PlayStation or Xbox

Just get the Xbox because of Game Pass, games are going to become kak expensive.

And you get CoD for "free".

And Gears.

And Oblivion.

And Doom.

And Clair Obscur.

And Avowed.

And the Indiana Jones Game.

And many many more.

Well not free, part of the sub, if you stop paying you stop playing :-P.

Xbox hardware might not bee too long for this world, I'd be quite wary throwing money in it now.

If your main objective is to purely save money, then you might as well go PC.

Xbox has already confirmed they are busy with the next gen console, I don't think they will leave the hardware market, maybe just in another form, semi-pc console.

Hardly doubt they will end making Xbox's

Its like Surface Laptop vs PC's, so is the Xbox for consoles
Sure you can buy other PC's to run Windows, just as long as you run Windows, it doesn't make the Surface obsolete.
Same is true for Consoles:
Sure you can buy other Consoles, just as long as you play Microsoft's games, it won't make Xbox obsolete.

Xbox once said only 4 games are going to PlayStation & Nintendo, they even once said not all their first party games are going to PC (they say a lot of things).

They couldn't capture the market with a cheaper device so they might end up going after the more premium segment - smaller volume but higher specs. And at that point, if it is a pc-console hybrid, you might as well just get a PC that isn't going to require subs to play online games.

I say this as a console fan myself, if your main objective is to save money then PC is the best platform - it gets all the games anyway.

All that and I still prefer to play on console. Its just so much easier to drop down on the couch, power on the controller and The TV, Console and Sound system "magically" just power on and be ready to game.

Last time I played a game on my PC was back in 2022. :D

But yeah, like you said it is the cheapest option for games, price is the initial start and upkeep to stay relevant.

Buy PS5 if you are keen to pay 2k for games you want to play. You pay less than that the entire year with Xbox

If the 'games you want to play' ain't on GP, you will end up buying it anyway. Most games are the same price (MH Wilds, AC:Shadows is R1499 on Xbox and PS5, Elden Ring Nightreign is R749, etc.) but some I looked at was a bit cheaper on Xbox (BG3 is R1179 vs. R1329). At the end of the day this comes down to various factors including publisher pricing.

Yea same here, way too old to care about fiddling with PCs. Sold my last gaming PC in 2019 and never looked back.

I play on both and prefer the XBox by quite a bit.

However, if your friends are playing PS5 games then I'd say go with that.

I had series X and gamepass

Sold Xbox and bought PS5 and PS+
But I also have PC.

I play FPS games on PC, and most other games on PS5.

I’ve never paid full price for a PS5 game

I have a series s and ps5.

I have yet to finish a game on ps5 but I'm always on xbox or pc because I have xbox game pass ultimate and game share with my friend so we split the fee.

We get decent a decent amount of games at a low price even after the game pass price increase.

Yes PS5 now also get xbox game but Forza Horizon 5 with the dlc is R1599 man. It's expensive as hell. Even normal games are lower priced on xbox za store than ps5 store including in game currency.

The ps+ deluxe sub is expensive and the game catalogue is okay but with game pass ultimate you get ea plus also which you don't get with PS+

Xbox has cross progression with pc for most games including its own where ps you don't get that unless it's like call of duty.

You may have to pay for the MS games, but the point is you have access to it. Whereas you'll never have access to Sony games on Xbox.

Also PS+ may not come with EA, but you do get Ubisoft games. It's a question of which games you like more.

Consoles are getting to the point where I can no longer afford to get both, so in the next gen I'll probably have to make a call too. I do prefer the "experience" on Xbox better, and the ergonomic controller is a big part of that. But ultimately it's going to come down to which platform you can get the most games on. Right now it's PC, but after that it's PS...

Dammm you missed it then

Picked up 4 & 5 + all DLC for only R1000 back in 2023

Edit: this bundle when it was still on sale.

Yeah I have the Forza Horizon 4 deluxe edition just before thy de-listed it for less than R200. I bought the Forza Horizon 5 premium addons bundle for R300 I think so I still need Forza Horizon Standard edition for cheap to completely own it which I will get just before the game gets de-listed

That's just what it costs if you buy it outright? Where is it cheaper on Xbox? And it's R1499 on Steam ignoring the sale from what I can see:

I'll just do as I usually do and wait to grab it on sale
