PlayStation or Xbox

That's just what it costs if you buy it outright? Where is it cheaper on Xbox? And it's R1499 on Steam ignoring the sale from what I can see:

I'll just do as I usually do and wait to grab it on sale

Its only cheaper if you have GamePass:

Which brings me to something that drive me the wrong way, looking at above it seems asif I dont have the game, yet

Yea that's why I couldn't see it.

But regardless, this idea that games are so much more on PS is not really something I can see, especially 3rd party games whose prices are set by the publisher not the platform

If you on both for a while you will pick it up even on Sales. Xbox on average is cheaper even on 3rd party, but they miss one perk that I love on PS the monthly free games.

Sure you need to keep PS+ essential or higher to get/play them but after a while you get to build a good collection as they have some good games in them at times.

Yeah xbox stopped that :( used to get free games on the 360 and the one

Which means what for joe public?
It triggers guys like you 🤷‍♂️

Isn't this thread about peoples’ experiences with both platforms? Try to keep up

I've given a brief summary of my experience with both platforms and how I ended up.

Joe can take what he wants from it, or nothing. Most of your posts are worthless too :p

Right then, chaps and chapesses!
Yours truly has finally managed to squirrel away enough dosh to dive into the glorious world of console gaming.

Now, my two closest (and only) tjommies are keen PlayStation fans, and most of my online gaming has been with them. Naturally, my first thought was to simply follow suit and get a PS.

However, after giving it some proper thought and doing a bit of digging, I find myself a tad undecided as the big day approaches. You see, my gaming tastes are rather varied – I enjoy a bit of everything online. And, being a somewhat frugal fellow, getting good value for money is definitely on my mind.

So, I humbly ask for the collective wisdom of this esteemed forum:
Considering my fondness for a wide variety of online games, the fact that I don't have a particular favorite, and the importance of cost-effectiveness, what console might you advise I consider?
I'm keen to hear your thoughts, any personal experiences you've had, and perhaps even some of those less obvious things one should think about. Cheers!

Buy both. Be happy.

I have misunderstood your never paid full price as a brag about getting games cheaper.

It's hard keeping up inbetween the distractions of coding and teams meeting torture.

They certainly are.

It’s a simple equation of almost never needing to buy games on the Xbox while pretty much always needing to buy them outright on the PS5 because they never go on PS+ or any real special.

Meanwhile Xbox launches their big titles on day one straight to Game Pass which costs less over two years than a single game on PS5.

I'm talking about people that specifically say games are cheaper to buy on Xbox than PlayStation, which is different than "spending less on games overall". And it really depends what you play, if the games you want to play don't release on GP you're gonna buy them anyway.

And I get plenty of games on PS+, they even put some of their 1st party games on there after a while and they do have PS+ discounts on games all the time.

Huh? GP ultimate is R200pm, which is what you need for day 1 on console (I think?). How is two years of that less than one game on PS5?

Well almost nobody pays at the monthly rate, but in fairness yes that statement was based on old pricing and before they changed the models a bit. 6 month vouchers work out about R120 a month right now.

But most of the time when I look at pricing of I can choose the platform on day one Xbox is cheapest, PlayStation second and Nintendo always ****ing outrageous.

Prime example here - https://www.dekudeals.com/items/baldurs-gate-3-base-game

Cheaper at launch and much deeper discounts on Xbox over time which is the general trend.

It really is a thing.

I track my wishlists on both platforms and often the specials from publishers will run on both platforms at the same time and the Xbox is pretty much always cheaper.

I think this is a regional thing at the end of the day, which is probably why I'm questioning it. Looking at UK it's actually the other way around for Elden Ring, RE:4 and Dragon's Dogma 2, all had deeper discounts on PS store though not by a significant amount (+-5%). BG3 is exactly the same as XB.

Oh it most definitely relates.

There is not PlayStation South Africa so it’s all piss poorly supported by various third parties, whereas Microsoft actually has a direct local presence.

Yep, and I always thought this was unique to SA or other developing counties until I learned exactly the same thing happens with Nintendo in Scandinavia, they are getting absolutely shafted by Bergsala which is like Core Group.

At least in EU you have the option of ordering from Amazon uk/de and stick it to Bergsala.

I have PS 2,3,4 and 5. None of them new, My PS 1 broke and I am pissed about that but they are not hard to get it is just I don't use it a lot. My PS2 sees a lot of action, I enjoy it more then the PS3 and PS4. The PS5 No one is using it. Games are expensive, downloads and updates take forever and the PS4 only ever sees D3 and Minecraft.

Nowadays I stick to buying physical on Amazon if it's available. It's usually £10 cheaper at launch, and you can sell it afterwards. Too bad we had the perfect solution to expensive games yet people don't want to support it :(

Only reason now to get an Xbox is if you can't afford to buy games and/or a PS5 console

Sadly I am one of those who did not support it on Xbox/PlayStation, but totally support it on Nintendo, but that's cause it became useless on the others.

Xbox/PS games always needed a massive day one patch, making physical copies kinda useless. If you need internet to play the game, why have a physical disc in the 1st place. All our physical Nintendo games can be played without internet.

I don't buy games to resell, and even there, Nintendo wins, as their games tend to go up in value, especially once a generation has ended.

Switch 2 by the looks of it, gonna kill that in the future as well. fking gamekey cards /spit.
