Please Clarify : Telkom Sim

Hi

So my Telkom data integrated Sim just arrived. I have a 4mb speed and it's says I have "2GIG" for anytime and Night surfer.

So if I'm correct this means that I can use this Sim for Internet use when my dsl down or I'm not at home?

Guess I will have to buy a modem because my mobile only takes micro Sim.
 
Same boat as you - I think that 2GiG's applies to uncapped customers? Whereas if you have a cap, that's the amount of data you can use - haven't found an LTE router yet though

The sim is breakable, or do you mean that very very small one ?
 
It's not a micro one just a regular Sim :/

BTW I think I was supposed to get a free modem and 200mb with my "simple uncapped deal" I only realized that now! And I took this deal last year.... I can't even confirm that because the simple uncapped options are no longer available on their website. Damn
 
So I've been losing out on a free modem and 200mb data (not much), but I am paying for this.

20mb line holders get 10 gigs and 40 and 100 meg line holders get 20 gigs

Are you sure that will work on Telkoms LTE ?

Are you sure it's not? Mine is a normal sim, but you can see it has the perforated edge to break it out into the smaller ones?
 
3k for the router? Ouch! Might as well go buy one of those voda phones for 1k and use it as a mobile hotspot?

The two LTE routers listed will not work for Telkom LTE as they do not have the 2300 MHz TDD band as used by Telkom.

Hey man, mine definitely can break out, I just can't remember if it was to micro or nano :p

A friend of mine bought it and is currently using it. He gets just under 8 mbps download and 4mbps upload.
I got the one that telkom sells. And I get 1mbps down and up

which is the one telkom sells? and where do you get it? ... please don't say telkom direct store! :(

That's probably standard 3g+ with a proper LTE dongle I get about 30mbps without an antennae
 
I just went to the site to activate my Sim (entered the tel num and ref num). So once it's activated then I must insert the Sim right?

BTW it is a breakable one, just gonna check if it's fits into my Sim slot

I got the Huawei E5577. Not sure why I'm getting such low speeds though. Any suggestions there?

I did that and it took couple days just not to be activated. I tweeted telkom about the issue, got a call the next morning, gave them the numbers on the sim and it was activated few hours later.
I googled it and a lot of folk had the same issue. Maybe you get lucky and it gets activated in a the stated 48 hours
