Hi.

I would like you all to please let me know anything you want me to know about my site, If you think your 13 year old daughter can do a better job, tell me. I listen to all criticism.

I want my website to be designed for the customers, not for myself.

I know the design is bad right now, and its slow ... but I do have two developers working on my website.

Are there any things you would like me to add to the website ... and if you really want, you can tell me how it would help you.

Is there anything I should take off the website ... and if you want, tell me why.

I know there are a lot of people on this forum who love to criticize ... so please do. My website is http://www.digitaladdiction.co.za

Also, this forum isn't only for me ... if you have a website and need criticism on it ... put it here, I'm sure people will enjoy criticizing that too.

Looking forward to reading the comments.

Regards

Itai Etzman

There's a slight problem viewing it in FFox.

Darken the colours!

Where are Acer goods?

Very nicely organised and easy for someone like me to use. Had no problems navigating.

Firefox problem. Don't like the colours but thats a personal preference so don't worry too much about that comment.

Reduce the logo's at the bottom to 2 lines or so.
Take out the page hits- makes the site look cheesy.
Website is sluggish cos it has 524 Errors!!
Your developers need a wake up call. Isn't upto WWW standard (w3.org)
PM/Email me if you need advice.

Also:
The background color of your website, the color of your header, the color of your text, headlines and sub-headlines etc. can all have a psychological impact on your visitors.

Here is a list of some of the common colors and what type of psychological emotion they invoke in people:

RED is associated with love, passion, danger, warning, excitement, food, impulse, action, adventure.

BLUE is associated with trustworthiness, success, seriousness, calmness, power, professionalism.

GREEN is associated with money, nature, animals, health, healing, life, harmony.

ORANGE is associated with comfort, creativity, celebration, fun, youth, affordability.

PURPLE is associated with royalty, justice, ambiguity, uncertainty, luxury, fantasy, dreams.

WHITE is associated with innocence, purity, cleanliness, simplicity.

YELLOW is associated with curiosity, playfulness, cheerfulness, amusement.

PINK is associated with softness, sweetness, innocence, youthfulness, tenderness.

BROWN is associated with earth, nature, tribal, primitive, simplicity.

GREY is associated with neutralality, indifference, reserved.

BLACK is associated with seriousness, darkness, mystery, secrecy.

Hi. Thanks for your opinion. Actually, I just hired the developers ... I've been designing the website so far ... and I'm not exactly graphically inclined ... just needed to first build capital before I could get developers. I have done the WWW standard test ... and don't have a clue where to start because the whole website consists of 700 php pages ... obviously not all viewable pages ... thats what I'm hoping the developers will sort out. Is there a way to pinpoint where all the problems are. Also ... how do I design something to make it FF compliant ... because apparently there is a big problem with that.
I do have to admit the colours are pretty shoddy ... but I needed a temporary solution until I hired developers.

Opening it in firefox or IE7 leads me to http://41.204.200.50/

So it's difficult to comment.

Hi. I had that problem for a whole weekend last week ... something to do with a DNS server thing or something ... I thought it was sorted out, because even now it loads fine for me ... maybe it was just a quick error. If you try it again, it should work.

I went and downloaded FF, and now I see the problem is with the navigation on the left ... the rest loads fine for me ... how could I sort this out ... if anyone can give me a tip ... because about 1/3 of visitors use firefox ... and I never knew about this problem

Ok. Firstly, what software are you using to edit the site? Basically, software like Dreamweaver will eliminate many of your errors therefore speeding & optimising your website. Also has a cross functional browser check.
Secondly, why don't you go for a template? try templatemonster.com
It'll save you more money in the longer run.
My suggestion is to start off with a new osCommerce commerce installation and buy a template.
Will work out infinitely cheaper than hiring a web developer to clean out your site (Which is unsusable except for the main page)

Hi.

Yes, I noticed the firefox problem ... not sure how to fix it though.
I just obtained the Acer supplier now, so I will be putting their items up hopefully within the next 2 or so weeks.
You see, the thing is I'm studying accounting ... so my logical side is much better than my creative side ... so therefore as you say ... its easy to use, but design isn't too good :P.

Thanks for your comment.

Are you talking about the page hits in blue ... I think you are right ... for some reason, they are understated ... but that is the only picture they provide ... and I need it to load if I want a hit to be logged ... but I might just unsubscribe ... makes me seem like I get less hits than I actually do.

You're running an online store. The ZA topsites counter is wholly unprofessional as well as useless. Trust me, dump it.

But it seems like I'm top 4 ... lol :P ... I actually agree with you ... consider it gone ... but first I need to unregister it ... otherwise someone who searches my site will see that and think I'm inactive.

Thanks for the push ...

Done! Well I couldn't deregister but I took it off anyway ... I'm sure whoever finds that will realise its a dead site anyway ... and will ignore that it says 0 clicks.

It is very slow to navigate

I would also recommend analytics (Your hosting company might just have Awstats included)

It might be easier to go with the template as suggested as i guess the developer will in anycase have to recode the whole site

I prefer help/faq links to be at the top of the page if they're only in one place. Help includes information on shipping.
