I think it's an error on Telkom's part.
The lower price is the one quite a few of us have.

I was hoping someone would say that. Problem is that the higher priced one is listed as for gaming, and that is part of my requirements.

They are the same account.
I can't see how they're different other than the one saying it's for gaming.

Unless one is a business uncapped account?

Nope, not business. One is from "Telkom Internet Uncapped Plans" and the other is from "do Uncapped Bundles" under Offerings.

The button to click to 'Order' the service is different. One is 'Order do Uncapped' and the other is 'Order AllAccess do Uncapped Advanced'

The AllAccess Questions button reveals:

A Telkom Internet AllAccess plan is your ISP account, to access the internet you will also need an access medium such as an ADSL line. A do bundle is a complete internet access package which includes your Telkom Internet ISP account (AllAccess) and an ADSL line subscription, these bundles are offered at a discounted rate compared to purchasing the ISP account and ADSL line separately.

Edit: So it looks like there is no technical difference, but new customers (new telephone line order) can get a better rate (cost) if ordering a bundle. If you add ADSL to an existing telephone service you can't get this discount.

On the phone with Telkom right now. They have a special. Telkom line, 4Mbps ADSL line, uncapped, router, 3G modem with 500megs data, installation, all included for R644/month. Order process does take some time though. 23 minutes to do it, but it is done now.

If it is still available then try cancellations department.
Many of us have got 25% off by phoning them and asking for the discount or we cancel.
I pay roughly R510 or so.

Only if you're already a month-to-month customer, IIRC. Farquart's getting a 3G modem in his package, which must mean he's sighed a contract already?

When I spoke to the consultant, I said which package I wanted. She then explained what it involved. I was happy with that and accepted. On their website it stated that it is month-to-month. She did not mention a contract in the telephone conversation, so I hope I am not bound by a contract? As the calls are recorded, I guess they can not force me to be on a 12 or 24 month contract and have to give it to me at the quoted price?

I went into the telkom store yesterday, and the consultant advised this is on month to month.
I dont have a phone line so asked her what the costs of installation where she showed me the special you mentioned (R514 on 2Meg and R644 on 4Meg) for new customers includes free telephone line and ADSL installation - guess incentive for me to get ADSL

The telkom simple deals as mentioned above are all month to month, no contract, what i want to know is, is the modem really free? if you cancel after one month because you not happy for whatever reason do you get to keep the modem?

I asked the consultant that I was speaking to this exact question and she said that you do get to keep it.

Well, I am applying for a Telkom simple deal.

I was told that this is the cheapest way to get your line activated. So as soon as the line is activated, a friend told me that I should then give the number to afrihost and they will take my telkom account. All that I have to do then is pay for my telkom line, and the afrihost account.

Is it as simple as that?
