Please help me diagnose this problem.

In Vid 1 I can see the engine is up to temperature, but in vid 2 it is not yet completely in working temp.
Maybe the engine temp meters is reading wrong and sending wrong info to ecu?

My previous Megane 2 had a lower rev limiter in lower gears if the engine is not in the correct working temps.

Mixed the fuel gauge with temp out of memory

Depending on the km I would also say fuel filter. My car's filter is also in the tank. You just have to drop the tank to get to the filter.

Have you tried just disconnecting the battery for half an hour and allowing the computer to reset?

It definitely sounds like the car is being limited. But it is strange that the rpm limit changes in the second video.

I think the car would be much more erratic if the timing belt was off. Seems perfect until it hits this limit.

Have the crankshaft position & lamda sensors checked out.

Has anbody recently worked on the car or has things possibly got wet in the engine bay?

Edit: It does not sound like a mechanical issue so could be a cheap fix

Check throttle position switch as well. It might think car is still idling. Otherwise spark plug leads/coil packs.

Electronics and mechanical problems are much of a muchness nowadays in terms of cost.

@OP - the car is hitting its rev limiter, which means one of two things, either your rev counter is wrong, or the little spring that works the limiter has become weak and is cutting in too soon. I would check under the distributor cap first, and look at the rotor.

Things were just better back then. Cars were built years ahead of their time and to last until their time came.

Now cars are built with tech thats been available years ago... and they fall apart just in time for service plan expiration.
