Just leave the group. We have 200 members across 2 whatsapp groups in our suburb and there's at least 1 person leaving every week. Unless your neighbours pay your salary, you shouldn't have to worry about what they think of you

Can't you must a group? Am sure I am a member of a group where I only check when I want to fall asleep
I left our street committee group - was tired of the continued requests for load shedding schedules at all hours... then if someone complains about the sports cars screaming up and down the road to the top houses, people complained to take it offline as it wasn't security related

Yep, I've done that, couldn't care about the group musings but every now and again I'll check to see what's happening. As was mentioned earlier, there is benefit in being a member.

Thing is, its meant to be for emergencies/secuirty issues - not for chatting - kinda of defeats the purpose then having the group on mute.
You could also suggest they create two groups, one for chatting, one soley for security/emergency issues - then belong to only th one.

Agreed, we've actually had one emergency since the creation of the group 3 months ago. Also it's been handy knowing which houses in the area have builders working/staying on the property.
Other than that it's all been chit chat about ADSL, electricity, water, street party etc.

They chat about ADSL? GET THE FEK OUT THAT GROUP. THEY HAVE TO BE A DERANGED LOT IMHO !!!!
