Today I bought an LG DVD recorder + HDD and came home all excited but now I am stuck. I have followed the instructions and done all the connections to hook up the unit - aerial, audio/video connections and finally the power cord. The instruction book says that when the power is turned on, a set up window will come up on the screen. I frist thought they meant the TV screen (if so which channel must be the TV be on?) Later I decided they mean the little screen on the recorder. Which I switch on, the little screen says Hello and then Setup but if I push the up and down arrows to select language nothing happens. The TV is simply playing whatever channel I have on. I have tried putting it on AV1 and AV2 as I used for my DVD player but it just shows blue. Will someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

make your tv search for the DVD Recorder...

Are you sure you plugged the AV cables into AV out on the DVD recorder? and not in?

The DVD recorder won't show up on a channel, you need to select the TV/AV channel on the TV, permitted the TV has RCA input? and also make sure you connect the yellow cable on the yellow connector, and the same for the white ones. From the output of the DVD Recorder you need to run a RCA cable to the input of the TV.

I am beginning to wonder which is In and which is Out. LOL
In the illustration in the instruction book AND on the back of the unit there are two blocks of holes. The lefthand set says Output and the righthand one says Input. I plugged the the cables in the one that says Output (surely that is out) but now, looking at the diagram) I see they put them in the block on the right which says Input. I don't see how Input can be out but I am going to go and try them in the other block. Will get back to you.

Thank you. It worked when I changed them to where it says Input (which apparently means Out). So I did the Auto SetUp and scanned for channels and set the clock. I now have a VERY clear good picture. I must just sort out channels and fathom out setting the timer to record. Thanks for the help.
