Please help. Got home last night all excited with my Witcher 2 Premium edition. Installed it, entered the activation code in the pop up window. It starts to download what I assume is the activation pack then almost immediately the window vanishes. I then can't launch the game - the error message appears: witcher.exe not found

Their forum suggests the following - none of which applies to me

* UAC windows 7 - turned off
* Game installed prior to lanch date - have uninstalled and re-installed 4 times between this morning and last night - since yesterday was the official release date this isn't the problem
* Antivirus interfering - AV was turned off during install
* Their servers were offline during the night but now back up

Any suggestions? Besides downloading one of the freely available cracks until CDProjek gets their act together

That sucks dude, seriously. I installed it without issue and played until some godawful hour. Did your internet connection not maybe bomb out midway through the download? If it's just an exe issue, is the exe file not located on the CD somewhere that you can copy to the Witcher directory? (Or is that what the patch is for; downloading the exe?)

Other than that, I don't know. Good luck though, you have to get it sorted out!

I had a similar problem with the GoG version of the game. Seeing that people on the GoG forums said that one should turn off their AV and reinstall, I just decided to check my AV quarantine first and sure enough it had quarantined a file that it suspected was a potential trojan. I removed the file from quarantine, then turned my AV off, then went to the folder where the game was installed and ran the file called Patcher.exe. After taking awhile to patch I was able to launch the game from the launcher with no issues. Not sure if this will help you at all since your problem does sounds slightly different but there is no harm in trying.

Yeah also got a warning about witcher.exe being a keylogger type of program so put its permision on restrict and it worked fine.

Worth a try

did you come right with this? would be helpful to the other members?

I clicked custom install and noticed that there was an option ticked "install executables"

maybe try a custom install and make sure everything is ticked??

Will try when I get home and definitely post if I get this resolved

Woohoo!!!! :D:whistle:;)

Success at last - activation achieved

Not sure which one of the two was giving the problem but uninstalling Norton IS and RuBotic did the trick

!@#@&% SecureRom

im confused thought the game didnt have securom???

only the DLC has securom or something... remember reading that a while back

Gog and Steam versions are DRM free, but the publisher (ATARI i think) insisted on securom.

Atari has actually removed the drm from their download version from atari.com now, its only the retail version that still has securom.
