Hi Guys,

I am new here but would really appreciate all the help I can get. I am trying to install an EPSON TM-T70 slip(receipt) printer model M225A for a POS program. Every time the drivers are successfully installed the printer starts printing question marks (?) and won't stop until you turn it off or remove the printer from your computer. It has a serial connection but as the computer it needs to be connected to doesn't have a serial port we are using a serial to usb converter. Any suggestions please? We are running windows 7 64-bit.

Thanks in advance!!!

Regards

Try some trouble shooting.

Try on a 7 32 BIT OS.
Try without the converter (these normally do cause issues!)
Try using a PCI Serial port addon card
Try on say, XP OS.

I would have if I could, but unfortunately I don't have access to any of those and don't want to go out and buy a PCI add-on card if it is not gonna work. Could it be a firewall blocking print spooler service or anything like that? Havent tried deactivating the ESET firewall.

Thus why I said you should try troubleshooting the problem.
You need to to try some of the things.
I have a hard drive with a bare XP (no updates, nothing) and sometimes test devices on it. This way, no anti viruses cause issues, no possible updates cause issues.
As for the PCI addon card, once you have it, you have it - for future use.

Thanks for your reply. Will see if I can try that tomorrow.

Printers normally have issues on 64bit OS'

I have a NEW NEW NEW printer that refuses to print on 64 BIT 7 (even though it has drivers for it and apparently supports it) but when I put it on a 32 BIT 7 with drivers from the makers site, works 100% - I've seen this happen so often with so many items not just printers.
