please help!!!!!!

i3/i5 is for users on a budget, i7/i9 is the high end stuff. If he can afford the i7 why settle for "second" best

You can get an Intel Core i7 870 which is based on the Lynnfield architecture (socket 1156) which more or less replaces the Intel Core i7 920.

I don't know why but I have a gut feeling that it is going to be good. Plus from a choice of a Pentium, i3, i5 and a i7 seems like something to me.

Well it's a Bloomfield CPU with a dual channel memory controller and PCI-e lanes instead of QPI. Well some Lynnfield CPUs don't have Hyperthreading either but that's beyond the scope of this post. Performance should be quite similar with regards to games as early previews have suggested.

go with i7! Triple channel memory FTW!

The memory bandwidth is quite nice, however I don't believe that it necessarily translates into much of a performance boost in games versus dual channel.

That said, I am thoroughly enjoying my Core i7 920 :D

take the money you are wasting on i7 and tripple channel DDR3 and rather get a good GFX Card.

i7 is good though, but a good GFX Card will take priority in my books any day

What gfx card would you recommend i can maybe stretch my budget to R15 000

i agree

I would think the power supply is too much.

ya i agree, unless you want to crossfire like you mentioned.

But you could save the $ that you spend on such a big power supply, get a decent 500w and just get 1 high spec gfx card.

4870/4890, at least. - but with your budget (esp. if it's 15k) you can afford a 4870x2, or a top of the range nVidia if that floats your boat (not so clued up on nvidia these days but im guessing gtx 285/295 or something?)

with 15k im betting you can go i7 AND a 4870x2, which would be a killer setup IMO...

or how about two of these suckers:

HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E DVI-I / TVO HDMI (Vapor X Cool) R 2,229 excl. R 2,541 incl.

:D

noob101 ... as great as some of the systems are that the others guys have mentioned, i don't think u need it. u seem to want a decent gaming rig, and basically any dual/quad core chip will do(u don't need an i7 - although it would be nice) .... this will save u a lot of money and u can rather get a decent gfx card .... also ... remember that even if u get the latest and greatest now, it will be outdated in 6 months .... so in 6 months that 15k pc will be worth mayb 8k ..... my 2cents :)

Ya, dont go overboard man.

If you're just gaming and entertainment, then ask yourself, how bling do you want your graphics to look. Because most games will run on R2000 cards, its just your settings that will be lowered to accomodate it.
You might spend R7,000 on a gfx card only to find it a 3rd of its value next year and that doesn't feel good.
So ask yourself, is graphics very important, medium or low.
and then go for the appopriate card for your choice.

I would then take that extra $ and get a nice size LCD or LCD tv, speakers etc.

the guy has 15 Grand people - he can run i7 AND a good GFX card..

dude - get a 4870x2 or a gtx 285. no use in spending so much on a good system except for the 9500gt holding you back...

+1. It's the e-penis that matters, nothing else

Seriously now, go for the best stuff you can afford
