Hi everyone,

Ok, so my friend is in a spot and Vodacom say they cant help.

She currently has a curve 8350 or something on a topup 135 contract.

She wants to get a bold 9900 on a bb100 contract, but swap the numbers around so she keeps her number on her new phone. Vodacom say you cannot do this on a contract. My question is, is this really true? Why not? She owns both phones, so why is it so hard?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There has been a few requests of this nature....and to my knowledge the answer is no...you can not swop two numbers around. We can change your number but not swop it around.

Shoud you want, PM VodacomData and confirm with him.

You'd have to "upgrade" the topup135 to bb100 when it's up for renewal. Shifting and chopping and changing to a new contract while technically feasible would be a menace of effort that isn't required of them.

If she REALLY wants to do it she can try forcing an immediate upgrade, but she'll likely have to pay in the remainder of the 135's contract ( or part thereof ) and then upgrade

thanks for your help guys, really appreciate it.

Sux cos her contract ends next year sept, so cancellation would be quite a waste.

Thanks though, just wanted to make sure if there was nothing we could do :)

Okay..... Question then:

Could she have her current contract's number changed, but port the old one to prepaid?

Then get a new contract on the prepaid?(even if it means she must wait a month or 2?)

She could take the new contract & put that sim in a drawer?
Then use the old sim in her phone?

Edit:

:erm:

why upgrade now when she's only had the phone/contract for 6 months????????

Corect me if i am wrong she wants to basically have her old number on her new phone
Why not just take out the new contract and put her old sim in the new phone and new sim in the old phone, it wont void any waranties etc as both are vodacom phones and vodacom contracts.

DOnt see why shes trying to complicate matters by trying to swap numbers

basically cos she wants the better contract to have her old number, cos she will use that one instead.

If you convert a contract number to prepaid it needs to remain on prepaid for 6 months before it can be converted back into contract again.
