You weren't really specific on which scale to rate on, or even what exactly the criteria were...

I would say 14-16K, how heavy is it BTW? :D

There must be a huge sock shortage in JHB since you smoked them all. It's got a mid-range graphics card that's 3 generations old. This wouldn't even have cost R15 grand NEW.

Please be so kind as to show us where you would buy a notebook with these specs for R15k, I'd love to know.

And add more money for 32Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM ?

And take off a lot for not being new. 32GB of RAM will get you zero performance benefit over 8 in games, and only a little in 3D modelling, video editing etc.

To get more realistic prices, check out Carbonite to see what laptops are selling for there secondhand.

Sure, set your time machine coordinates for 2012 and get up to 88 miles per hour.

Or, you can buy this one, that will perform slightly better (GPU is about the same, CPU is faster)... BRAND NEW for R14k and use the extra grand for an SSD.

That is actually not bad, thanks! I think the SSD and extra RAM will add quite a bit though, but that is not a bad start.

I do not get why they still sell these without an SSD by default. I've got a high end ASUS notebook as well, and it is being held back considerably by the normal hard drive.

so how much do you think is a reasonable price for my laptop package??

Based on what I've read in this thread... I'd offer R10k :/

It's normally good if you can get it without an SSD, it's usually a lot cheaper to buy it yourself VS buying a laptop with one built in.

I'd guess about 10, maybe 12.. But again best to check Carbonite. That old GPU is your biggest problem. Unfortunately the Asus laptops don't use standard MXM modules and so aren't upgradeable.
