Hi Guys,

Been reading up about this Plex client for samsung smart Tv's.

Firstly, I have the UA46D6000 in my bedroom, the LA40D550 with a Sammie HTS in the lounge.

Everything is connected to the internet through that samsung wireless stick and/or LAN cable, all work fine.

But when I saw some previews of this Plex client showing 'movie reviews', 'stars rating', 'short introductions/synopsis'... etc per movie/series, i want it. So googled around... but cant seem to find much info.

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks :-)

Firstly the Plex client for Samsung only runs on the Smart Hub, so can only run on your D6000, not your D550.

In the Smart Hub login [A] with the following credentials;

Samsung account: develop
Passord: 123456

Then in settings [D] go to Development. Then choose Setting Server IP and put in 46.102.243.230. Then choose User Application Synchronization. This will start the download & installation of Plex for Samsung (from the developers site).

After that fire up Plex and configure the IP of your Plex Media Server in Preferences, and start enjoying.

Says network or server interference occurred. Please try again later.

Network/Internet is up though?

Not sure? I was messing around last week and had to reload Plex (using the process described above) and it worked 1st time for me.

Edit: Seems like a bit of bad timing. The developer probably shut his site down recently as he's going legit i.e. officially via the Samsung Apps Store. The issues is the latest version in the Store is currently certified for C & D BD-Players only, C,D,E TVs are still coming in the next few weeks.

In the mean time try 212.85.33.228

Yeah works, tx roman :) not really liking it too much though.. Bit slow in loading mediA.

Cool GUI though :)

Was just loading a Conan o brien show (specifically 350+- in size) maybe ran slow cause I pulled out an old laptop which I'm running plex server from? Network is running 10/100 (tried both wireless and LAN , didn't make difference. Problem was In load time. Took about 10 to 15 seconds from pressing enter to play to it starting to play. Maybe processing power on laptop? It's only a p4 ;) old little bugger I had lying in cupboard

Ya, could be a number things, you're going to have to systematically eliminate them one by one.

Just to give you an indication of how well it can work, my largest 13GB 1080p files start playing in 4-5sec from hitting the button, and thats across wireless N.

Cool tx man. Will check it out when I get some more time. Back to grindstone tomorrow :((
Should have some time end of July again to play around with the set up

Plex is now live in the Sammy app store. Just select it and install.

I was using the side load method on my Sammy BD D5500 then noticed on Sun last week it was live. No more side loading.

does that any samsung smart tv will be able to install it?
Not yet, Samsung have only certified it for C & D BD-Players for now, so will only show up for them. Hopefully C, D & E TVs certification will come soon, then it should appear in the Apps Store on the TVs.

Wait is over, official v0.9.7.4 Plex for Samsung client in SA apps store. Side loading is a thing of the past.

Note currently for C & D model TVs & BD players only. Developers now working on E model compatible release.

By the way, what is going on with the E series players? The E5900 seems to be equivalent to the D5300, only a lot slower and more expensive. Also no optical or analog outputs. I'm pretty disappointed in mine. Just getting into the smart hub takes a while, and Plex menus are super slow to navigate.

The currently avaliable Plex for Samsung client is not E model optimised, nor certified/approved by Samsung yet. The 2012 E SmartHub has changed so you may well experience performance/compatibility issues until the proper upgraded client is released.

Yes I assumed the Plex client would a a bit wonky since it's basically an Alpha release, but the player's own menu system is also quite slow, especially the Smarthub. It plays Blu-Ray discs very quickly but the menu system is just horrible...
