Plex help

Anyone else having problems with H.265 (HEVC) encoded files?

I have the latest plex server version on Windows.

When playing the video it buffers every 15 or so seconds.

Other formats play fine.

Is your PC up to scratch? H.265 takes a lot more CPU processing power to decode. Also if it's very high resolution ( 4K ), your router might not be fast enough to transfer the data across.

Dunno:cry:
It's a HP ProLiant N54L MicroServer, AMD Turion II @ 2.2GHz 4GB DDR3 running Windows 10
Only trying to view 720p

Is that hardware not enough?

edit: Tried via Wifi and UTP cable - UTP only slightly better (still buffers)
that's to the player, my Sammy TV. So.... to clarify more: Plex server wired to router, router either Wifi or Cable to TV ;)

Definitely not good enough. H265 needs an immense amount of processing power.

Hi. Wonder if anybody can help me with this strange problem. Whenever I play videos directly from my media server management screen, it stops playing every 5 minutes.
Plays fine from my iPad.

I've never used the browner option for longer than it takes to check that a file works.

I don't know why you would if you have PHT.

Chrome App?

Same here. Decided to use the Windows universal app. Works great now (no more bomb outs). Guess it's a bug.

ok cool.. will switch to Home Theatre or the Universal app.. dunno why I didn't think of that before .. Doh!

Thanks all :)

It happens from time to time with me as well. Sometimes it plays smoothly, other days it doesn't. Probably some codex prob with the browser.

Also if you're having problems in the browser, make sure you've tested without any browser extensions enabled to eliminate the possibility that it's an adblocker or some other extension causing issue.

Is there an android remote control app for using Plex through a PC?
