Plex Thread

recently my streams have been buffering BADLY. Running Plex on home PC to TV and it was terrible this weekend.
Im on a 100/100mbps Fibre line so there's no reason to be buffering.
So strange and annoying.
Internet speed should have no effect on a locally hosted server.

Fibre should have nothing to do with it, but watch your Dashboard and make sure the traffic is local and not remote.

If it shows up as remote you need to add your local subnet to the exclusion.

If it’s definitely local and buffering make sure to set everything to Original Quality. Setting it lower actually makes the server work harder because then it transcodes.

Are you going to be sharing the plex server with other people?
If not, no need for vpn or ssl certs. You might need to port forward if you are having issues.

If you are going to share the server with lots of people I would recommend a reverse proxy with a domain name and then setting up custom server access url.

You don’t need any of that.

Plex sorts out the reverse proxy and SSL all by itself.

All the other people need to do is login with the account your shared to them and job done.
