Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

I do some video streaming, browsing, dropbox backup uploads and emails between 8am - 5pm . I start my downloads from anytime after 5, usually around 10pm tho, i download throughout the weekend however. I manage to do on average 100 - 120gb per month on my 1mb and i have a 4 star rating.

@Unhappy438
Thanks for your reply. Your example gives me a clear indication that I should not have a problem then, as I am not a heavy downloader.

Hi Janitor

Is this accurate for Plugg?

Plugg Star Rating.png

5 Star: Great usage on all services, torrents and news server downloads may be slightly slower dependent on network load.
4 Star: Voice services (Skype) and gaming will be great, along with general browsing. Downloads will be slightly slower.
3 Star: Voice services (Skype) and gaming will be good. Your YouTube videos will take slightly longer to load, general browsing and mail will still be quick.
2 Star: General browsing, mail and online video will perform slightly slower. Voice and gaming services will be good, downloads will take some time.
1 Star: General browsing, mail and online video will perform slightly slower. Voice and gaming services will be functional, downloads will take some time.

Howdy,

Is this accurate for Plugg?

Not really no, since as the article indicates, Web Africa can set their own parameters and besides, they also still make use of their own Infrastructure and systems for their ADSL subscribers.

As I have mentioned before, Plugg makes use of a progressive priority system; in short, if your usage is high, your network priority will be dropped; this starts by dropping the priority of downloading protocols. If you remain a top user eventually all of your usage will be low priority.

Refer to this posting of mine, which will give you more information - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...DSL-Feedback?p=9892036&viewfull=1#post9892036

@janitor@plug

Can you please tell me what your average turnaround time is for answering support tickets?
I wait an avg of 5 days!! Not acceptable in my eyes.

In any case, I have plenty issues. My INT downloads seem messed up, for days already. Local seems fine most of the time.
No one is getting back to me!

Speedtests a few days back:

What's up with those Int speeds. It does not matter what ftp or http file I want to grab internationally, it moves slower than my 94 year old granny...

Well, if you could PM me your user details, then I can have a look re slow international speeds. Also, if you could include the ticket numbers that you received back (when mailing support@) at the same time, it would make things easier to track down.

What's your star rating?

Considered moving to Plugg a while back, but judgin by all the problems, it seems good that I have not moved.....

Sad to hear though, we need more good ISP's..

This is terrible. Browsing is almost dead now too, page timeouts and videos dont even load on youtube.

Browsing is completely normal for me.

EDIT: Youtube plays on auto quality no problem with no buffering.

What problems? Guys are complaining about slightly slower speed today, which will happen at any isp from time to time. Otherwise go back through the thread you wont see very many problems

Everything is running fine for me, i even tested a torrent and i got some good speeds. I think im sitting at about 55 gigs done for the month. Remember its not about your total download its about the time of the day when you donwload.

I'm on 155GB on my 4mb account and I'm still on 4 stars coz I keep the majority of my downloads between 12-6am.

Just a quick heads-up. We are experiencing some increased latency and packet loss on our CTN IPC. It's been reported to Telkom so we are waiting on their feedback.

JNB IPC are functioning without any problems.

Telkom confirmed that they have made repairs at their tygerberg node and packet loss has subsided. CPT IPC looking good again.

I think Plugg need to reassess the prices they charge for a 2mbps line, im looking to upgrade but its basically the same price as what isps would charge for a 4mbps.
