Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

finding it easy to understand the star ratings.
i'm happy so far.

I'm afraid to say that the star rating is the best aup around IMHO, at least you know where you stand, and for my usage (not at home during the day), it suits me just fine, and I can browse mybb all the time now ;) Still on 5 stars after 10 days DL'ing between 0:00-6:00 and am on 106GB, 4mb line :)

I'll use my Vox account for big downloads if need be, and let the cap build.

Anyone else not even able to browse during the day?
Ive been sitting on 2 stars for ages and have done 72gb this month. I really dont understand their shaping because some people are on over 100gb in 10 days and they still on 5 stars.
Honestly i dont really care if I am shaped during the day but i would at least like to be able to browse the net.

Had to switch to my AH account just to post this.

I had the same for last 2 days. 2 stars but some websites don't load etc..

Edit: Last week I had one star.. 8am my internet would be dead. Couldn't even browse.5pm came and the web would work fine.

Yeah this is the only problem i have with plugg. I just want to be able to use the net during the day. Dont care about the speeds

Best to get a capped account for those times, as when the network is busy (ios update), 1 star is unusable, but when the network is quiet, 1 star can feel like 5. 5 stars can also feel like 1 (shaped account and all) with the iOS drama, it is a consumer product, real-business comes first.

This is IS's quirk, MTN, TI & Vox are unable to do forecasting, Mweb is no just no, then that leaves Cybersmart (CW). I think they would be the next choice, although I don't think their network is as solid as IS's. You just have to play by the rules and adjust your usage patterns and it will treat you well.

I only download overnight, the rest of the time the line is pretty much idle, with browsing, a YT vid or three and that's about it, I don't stream anymore, prefer the latest stuff, I can pause and rewind Supersport in HD.

Still on 5 stars, here's my 116.17GB's of usage for the month:

Sorry Plugg but I have to come clean and say that this is on an IC 4mb R199 uncapped special.

I'm contemplating moving to IC (or test drive it). Plugg seriously not as cool as they were a few months ago.

What's your line speed?

Sometimes it's better to get an account that's faster than your line speed.

I'm on 4 meg on the moment. I moved to 4meg about 2 months ago... before that 2 meg was 100% with almost no shaping after 5pm.

I'm on 150Gig for the month, and saw 1 star rating. Honestly... 150 Gig (lots of downloads between 12-8am), and I'm stuck on 1-2 stars...

Just as a heads-up; we are seeing quite a bit of an increase in overall traffic via all the IPCs this morning. The network peeps are keeping a close eye on the traffic and will be making changes, if needed, to try and alleviate any additional latency.

Best I go and do some burr-grinding to ensure their steady supply of coffee....

Your account is now on two stars, you will feel the shaping during the day especially if there are more demand on the network. It is important to keep in mind the priority is applied in real time, so it is not really as much -fixed times-, but more depending on usage on the network from minute to minute.

I have mentioned this before (on this forum) that Internet Solutions makes use of a rolling ten day window to determine your account status based on your usage. The rolling window is always today plus usage of the previous ten days; there are no specific days. Rolling ten days.

If you do find yourself 'flagged' the quickest and easiest way to get 'unflagged' is to schedule your downloads during 23:00 - 06:00, Mon - Sun.

If you schedule the majority of your downloads during this time, you will never be flagged.

I understand that but how can you call it shaping when you cant get onto a single website. It takes minutes to load even the google home page. Like i said FB dsnt load at all. That to me is not shaping.

Websites will load slower since you are being shaped and that includes facebook. I have however asked the network guys to simulate your type of account via KZN IPC just to make sure no funnies with the provisioning service.

The reality is however, at the moment, because of the higher demand currently on the network, uncapped packages with a higher star rating will get priority over the rest.

I cancelled my plugg acc on the weekend.

Paying so much and can't even download after 5pm (nntp) which I used to be able on my 2 meg line. 2-3 stars doesn't matter, nntp only works after 10/11pm.

And I do use steam for my games but feels like plugg is trigger happy with shaping.
 
Anyone else having problems connecting to League of legends with their plugg account?

Seems it might see the game as p2p because my p2p downloads are dead but everything else is fine.
 
Absolutely zero connectivity today. What a day to choose to work from home :-(

Anything going on we should know about? In the Killarney area of Jhb.
