Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Janitor,

Can you please check that the live streams work at twit.tv. Click "LIVE STREAM" on the right (bitgravity, ustream & justin.tv). It wouldn't work last night though their pre-recorded shows were fine.

Testing right now seems fine. I will test at random intervals tonight to see whether I can notice any funnies.

Yip it's fine tonight. This is the problem testing a problem some time after the fact. The transient issue has been resolved and is different when you test it. Meh.

Well, I did do some testing earlier.

Code:
velocidade#show dsl interface atm 0/0/0 | incl Speed
Speed (kbps): 0 7008 0 640
velocidade#

Noise Margin: 8.5 dB 12.0 dB
Attenuation: 39.0 dB 21.0 dB

20:00 Streaming JTV - Tech News Today with @sarahlane, @acedtect and @iyaz (minecraft now available on rasberry pi :)) Strreaming fine without any buffering. I stopped around 20:15 when they started talking about e-cookbooks on various digital readers.

I'll continue keeping an eye on the site at random intervals and also ask some of the peeps at the office to do the same. If you however run into this issue again, drop me a note ([email protected]); I am online till late most evenings.

Thanks, will take you up on that as I'm mostly very happy with the product (though we await a price drop) and would like you to find/fix that issue.

Out and about without Connectivity!

Howdy Howdy!

Just a quick note from my side; I will be out and about for two days (Thu - Fri) attending a Janitorial Workshop. One needs to keep up with the latest trends out there ;) I am told that there are plenty of game to see, but not to much when it comes to mobile network coverage so I might be lucky if I find a spot with gprs connectivity.

If you do notice any funnies please log it with [email protected] and for trial accounts via [email protected]; I'll catch up on emails, comments on this forum etc Friday evening when am back in civilisation.

48 hours without my online fix....

Have a good one!

Haha not been on here for a while. World of Warcraft been keeping me very busy. Thanks for the great connection Plugg.

Glad to see my thread is actually being used :D ... Had so many delteded posts recently on "THAT OTHER ISP" 's thread xD

Janitor, can you please point me in the right direction to try out one of your trial accounts, I'm currently rather annoyed with Mweb and their vague AUP, I have received an abuse notification from them stating I have done unattended bulk downloads, I wonder which tree the guy is hiding in to know that, I'll pot him with my pellet gun if I find him. they advertise no data thresholds, funny that. And no I haven't bypassed any of their shaping, which i thought was there to stop you from abusing their networks, what a fail.

Damnnnn, just switched on and full speed, you have my attention and probably my money soon :D , will see how it fairs during peak hours.

Anyone else experiencing slow youtube/streaming speeds?

On my 4Mb line, Plugg is absolutely brilliant between 5pm and 8am. Like clockwork at 8am I can barely even open the speedtest site to do a test. Not sure if its still a SeaCom thing, but I think not, because this has been going on for weeks now. My friend works from home and he says its not viable to be with Plugg anymore because he can't even remote to his work PC anymore which is in the same city. We both live in Sea Point, Cape Town.

Here's my international and local speed tests

Really odd to have my uploads speed faster than my download speed.

FWIW, I double checked the speedtest with MyBroadBand's speed test and the results are the same.

Could you drop me an email with all the details, including your username, your friend's as well if possible, so that I can have a look. It would definitely not be a seacom thing.

If you could include a traceroute to any international site, that would help as well.

Thanks.

Seems like my trial account is completely dead, moving at around 5Kb/s atm. I'm using teamviewer and its barely holding on to a connection.

Howdy,

BTW, speaking of Cape Town.

Tonight, or rather tomorrow morning (Thursday 00:01 - 05:00) Telkom will be taking some of our IPC links in Cape Town out of service in order to run diagnostics on each of them. We have discovered that there are additional latency on those links which right now, nobody can explain why.

Traffic in CTN will be rerouted but that unfortunately means, high latency for that duration.

If you do have any queries in this regard, please get hold of me via [email protected]

Thanks

Are there any issues in Cape Town at the moment that could be causing this?
