Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Howdy,

Could you drop me an email with all the details, including your username, your friend's as well if possible, so that I can have a look. It would definitely not be a seacom thing.

If you could include a traceroute to any international site, that would help as well.

Thanks.

Okay thanks, I've just emailed you the details. I don't know my friends details tho.

Tonight, or rather tomorrow morning (Thursday 00:01 - 05:00) Telkom will be taking some of our IPC links in Cape Town out of service in order to run diagnostics on each of them. We have discovered that there are additional latency on those links which right now, nobody can explain why.

Telkom have asked that this be rescheduled since they "have no resources available" to do the diagnostics. I will let you know the next scheduled date once we have reconfirmed with them.

Either I'm being throttled or something is very wrong with IS in Cape Town, although I haven't seen any complaints elsewhere?

based on my post earlier today, the Janitor confirmed via email that I am in fact flagged as a high usage user. Previously in his post 450GB per month was considered high, but its obviously much lower now because my consistent 200 to 250GB per month has got me flagged as a high usage user.

While I'm waiting for the Janitor to reply to question posed in my email, does anybody know how to get unflagged as a high usage user. I mean are you marked for life as long as I'm with Plugg, or is it a month to month check and then they take rolling average?

I promise to be good I just want to know how :o

I'm still on a trial account, and its only been 3 days.

Ah! and that is where the puzzle pieces comes all together. How support can dish out 'recycled' test accounts -sigh- I will take that up with them. You are being penalised for somebody else's usage on that account earlier the month. Last three days you did not do too badly though in terms of downloads but still, you not getting a true reflection.

So, last night my 2MB plugg test account had reached its 10 day maturity. To summarize my experience, I found that during the day downloads seemed to never really exceed over 200kbps, browsing was flawless, youtube streamed at 480p without a hint of buffering and torrents seemed to average between 160 - 180kbps. After hours, after 6pm, the account really performed with downloads reaching 230kbps steadily, torrents were around the 200kbps mark, nd once again browsing and youtube were flawless.

I had to go back to my MWEB 1MB UC account and honestly I felt hard done by having enjoyed such awesome speed. It almost felt like I was driving a car with the handbrake up LOL.

All in all, Plugg performed better than I expected it to. In fact the day time speeds are what impressed me the most, having tested an OpenWeb 2MB account last month I can definetly say that the Plugg was the better performing account during office hours. That said after hours the OW account performed on par with the Plugg account.

Plugg is currently high up on my list of possible ISP's for next month....

Congrats Plugg, you delivered as promised :D

I woke up this morning to some speed, I thought I was gonna get fined, doing over 700Kb/s on a 4Mb account, amazing, even at one point reaching 800Kb/s, this lasted for at least and hour that I could tell. Great job guys. My cancellation to my other ISP has been sent, and by the looks of things Plugg might be what I'm looking for. Will be testing this account thoroughly in the next few days. :D

Welcome to Plugg Club.

I have to say plugg flies. I have never looked back since moving from last ISP. My brother (and parents) too.

Hi Janitor,

1 Mbps Bitgravity streaming (from twit.tv) was fine most night but around 11 PM it started buffering and I had to switch to a 400 Kbps stream.

Howdy!

Telkom have asked that this be rescheduled since they "have no resources available" to do the diagnostics. I will let you know the next scheduled date once we have reconfirmed with them.

The diagnostics on some of the CTN IPC Links will now happen tomorrow (Friday) morning at 00:01 - 05:00. Telkom confirmed that they will have resources available.

Has the 4mb uncapped plugg account been increased? I could swear that yesterday it was R369 or R379 and now its R429??

Can anyone confirm?

So I'm not going crazy then, the site obviously displayed amount ex VAT, damn.

Not your imagination, I saw it too. Thought the price was changing daily then when I checked out it added VAT and everything made sense.
