Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Skype calls are very clear at the moment... something I have trouble with on Mweb over the past month. They really did mess up with changes to the network this month. Happy so far with Plugg.

Not sure what their turn around time is, but emailed them yesterday afternoon for a test account - no response yet. Guess I'll try someone else.

Howdy,

As mentioned; we picked up some additional latency on some of the IPC links in Cape Town and had Telkom do some diagnostics to see what is going on. Nothing could go belly up, as it was just testing by Telkom. We are busy analysing the output that we received from Telkom in order to decide on the way forward.

Based on the test results received from last week's IPC testing, Telkom requested another time slot in order to run additional diagnostics on some of our IPC links in Cape Town.

Testing will take place on Friday (01/03/2013) between 05:00 and 07:00 and Cape Town users will experience increased latency during the allotted time slot.

Does this mean there are problems in cpt with IS?

Howdy,

Does this mean there are problems in cpt with IS?

Not at all. I can confirm that there are no problems with IS in Cape Town.

We merely found additional latency on some of the IPC links which Telkom are unable to explain at this stage. Telkom asked for downtime in order to run additional diagnostics on the links, and also the routers connecting the links.

I am sad that today is the last day of my trial account  . Just one more month of Mweb then i'm joining :D

Does any one have problems connecting from the outside into their network (while on Plugg)... I set up my home network so various services are available to me when I'm not at home - but I can't connect to any. (the router might just need a restart)

No problems, just 20ms latency increase if you get routed via IS Bellville IPC links.

My understanding from reading Janitor's response is that, that particular problem is because of something with Telkom, not necessarily IS. Is that not why Telkom is doing the tests on the IPC links ?

Arrg... my fault, apparently my router clears the NAT settings when you change ISP details

Anyway, my test account is doing well, I've put a throttling system in place as mentioned, and its going at throttled speed.

Howdy,

We are currently experiencing an outage affecting our services out of Cape Town. Traffic are rerouted but you will encounter some additional latency.

Additional feedback to follow.

Streaming at 1 Mbps in Cape Town so seems ok.

Btw Janitor it started buffering after 11 pm again yesterday. There seems to be an issue that starts around that time.

That's putting it mildly:

Tried your ip and it's around 1000 ms with packet loss. To our web server in the US I get 500 ms with no packet loss.

While streaming at 1 Mbps with no buffering.

:D

Struggling to stream Netflix and Hulu tonight on a trial account. Keeps buffering every few seconds. Impossible to watch.

I just cancelled my mweb uncapped to join plugg, but now I'm not so sure..

Iirc trial accounts have gone into throttling mode before. So ask ...

Btw, where are you?

I'm in Jhb. The whole reason why I wanted a trial account was to test streaming Netflix and Hulu because that's extremely important to me.

Fantastic speeds to Cape Town from East London.

Fascinating that East London to Durbs is not as good, but still good... I wish I had a good network diagram to explain it to me.

Who is your vpn provider? I was struggling earlier tonight but I see there was a CT issue, so not sure if that's related. I've found at night my Plugg account hasn't shone, but it's early days. I'm still on both (plugg/Mweb) for the next month.
