Amzing hw a simple thing just lyk double checking can save you some bucks..just got back from a Well known Supermarket..they robbed me for R7 in total..thats a feakin loaf of bread!:wtf:
Pampers marked for R145-00 i got charged R149-99
The best bit..USN Protein Crunch R9.99, i took it to the till it's R11-99, so i asked the guy in charge whats the deal he said the berry flavour is R9.99 the choc toffee flavour is R11.99

Can they charge R2 more for different flavour of the same product:confused:

Mum bought mayonaise the other day marked for R21.99 she got taxed R24.99

This is crazy!!!!!!

They can charge you whatever they want, no matter what the flavour is. I always check the prices. Pick 'n Pay eg. will give you the item for free if the price at the till differs the stated price. I've (ab)used this many many times: In the past PnP would take a while to realise that the retail price of the magazine had changed. They changed their price at the till but always took a wee bit longer to change the stated price - free magazines baby.

If I shop anywhere else and something like this happens, I always try to get it at the lower price - speaking to the manager sometimes helps. Everything in life is negotiable.

it's your job to check that the price you are charged at the till is the price reflected on the shelves or product, all supermarkets generally have a disclaimer to this effect somewhere on display in the store.

with regards the USN Protein Crunch, yes they can charge different prices for the different flavours due to the different ingredients

I'm surprised there aren't more stores using the electronic LCD / e-ink price tags for their shelves.

Yes always check at the shelves and at the till. I complained to management of Pick and Pay because their bread shelves were packed wrong so you thought you were buying a loaf for R5.99 when you were in fact paying R8.99 because of them not packing the bread right. They blamed the suppliers who pack their own bread.

At a big wholesaler we often had issue with prices that varied between till and shelf and when I complained every week I was invited to have tea with the manager and discuss the problem, fat lot of good that helped cause nothing changed. We eventually stopped going there.

I watch every price as they scan it.
If it is charged over what I saw on the shelf, then I have them void it and I ask the manager to go put it back.

Isn't that the truth.
I asked our local Pick 'n Pay to stick some pricing labels and maybe the name of what it is on their bakery goods. What a palava and after many sincere sounding promises, nothing changed at all - even now months later.

The PNP here has recently upgraded to the digital price displays, and of course i'm wondering around like i'm on Extreme Couponing looking for things I can get for free. Recently I left with five bottles of Sunlight because the price was wrong on the Till. I didn't push my luck though getting anything more than that ;)

but's it's daylight robbery with more than a few ppl actually complaining bout the same thing....what if it is intentional????

Due to Pick n Pays policy of the price on the till vs the price on the shelf, I have scored 6 litres of milk for free, tomotoes, tins of food ...... (the list goes on) They are so weary of me now that they try check the prices before ringing them up. But I tend to bring the price tags to them if something is not scanned right.

It is amazing how many people do not check prices on shelves and what is being scanned at the till.

Woolworths are the best at this sort of scam... they often have buy two get third free thing...but end up charging you three times.

Old topic. But anyways.

Had the same kinda situation at Checkers a few weeks back
Only realised once i was in my car and looking at my still slip that they have charged me twice for an item that was R14.99

It was too late to turn back as i was already out of the parking lot by then, but as mentioned, you should ALWAYS check you till slip as well as your change if you paying by cash!

had this a lot as well, but always check as they ring it up :) if there's a dispute I will preform until I get the item for free or at the reduced price. :) my wife hates it lol, but once I bought her a make-up and vanity set for R 50.00 from Edgars lol :P ( I know it was worth more, but was marked as a sale, reduced price) :P

How exactly does the pick n pay pricing policy (till price vs on the shelf) work?

I've never seen this, we've picked up till and shelf issues and all they go and do is bring the price from the shelf to the till?? Never encountered it where they actually give it too you for free, pretty sure you guys are actually robbing them.
