Good day

It's new year I want to fix my finance so I'm trying to cut cost, where I can so PMD insurance offered me car insurance for my Honda jazz. Monthly premium of R526 it's not bad currently I'm paying R950.

The consultant said every month I will be accumulate R2000 towards insurance value. I just want to ask if I decide to join, how is PMD when you need them when it's time to claim. Overall how is the customer/client service.

Accident do happen so if I bumper into someone's car, things like those how do they handle them.

CAR INSURANCE BENEFITS INCLUDE:
• Cover for total loss through accidental write-off*.
• Cover for total loss through natural fire and disaster.
• Cover for theft and hijacking.
• 3rd Party Vehicle Liability Protection up to R500,000 per incident.
• No vehicle pre-inspection required.
• Covers drivers from 19 years of age.
• Covers vehicles up to 15 years old.

Issue is, if car is in a non write off crash, you must pay repairs out of own pocket.

So if I'm involved in an accident on this cover, PMD does not help with repairs.

From what I read, no. You have the option of accruing a repair value that will grow the longer you stay with them but the base plan seems to be for total loss and third party.

It's a growing cover, the amount you pay every month is a % of the value of your car, the longer you pay the more money is accured for repairs.

I think you should first shop around and look at comprehensive covers

I do have comprehensive cover with King Price. I was only looking at PMD to cut costs there and there.

I remember this username asking another dodgy question somewhere else on myBB too.

OP, movinfg to PMD would not be wise, but then I would argue that being with King price isn't wise either, It would just be another poor choice in a string of bad choices.

King price decreases your insurance a couple of Rand's (under R10) a month but by the end of the year they send an anniversary email to say the insurance premium is increasing.

It's best to phone around to see who can offer you a good deal with the same or better cover

So asking about my cousin's second hand car that was involved, in an accident with the previous owner is that being dodgy.

Thanks yeah I will stick with KP until I fine something decent and bit cheaper.

Try looking around at other insurance companies, play them against each other if you have to. Also look at throwing in household insurance with your car, you might end up paying the same but your household stuff is covered.
