Thought I would give this a try, as I am tired of spending whole Saturdays doing month end grocery shopping.

PNP website isn't the most user friendly, so you have to physically search for items. Took a few hours to load all the grocery and toiletry items we usually get, but going forward all I have to do is reorder the same cart contents.

Pricing was more or less the same, and cost me R50 to get it delivered to my place on Saturday. I ordered on Thursday night.

Delivered on time and were only out of stock of 3 items. Had another 2 items substituted with PNP generic brands as the brands I wanted were not in stock.

Nothing like having someone else do your grocery shopping for you ;)

Any one else moving away from physical shopping?

And miss the joys of having my ankles bashed by some direction-less d00s with a trolley? Nooit! :D

I wanted to try this, but all the slots in my region were booked out until 2016 - so I just left it.

Also, no scoping out single moms in the fresh produce aisle? Nah, else I'd never get out the house at all.

I do admit I've been trying to get my mom to use it, dad gets seriously grumpy when he has to do the mundane stuff like shopping for bread & milk after she hurt her back. But then, I just got them used to facebook, they're both a bit technologically challenged so it's a sloooooooow process.

My wife has been doing this for the last few months, much to my disdain. I love shopping... up and down every aisle, doing price comparisons, eyeing the wares on display (boobs and ass included).

She enjoys the online shopping experience and the convenience of it. So from her side, so far so good!

I am not impressed.

Are the specials loaded on their site as well? Like the pamphlet specials?

Tried it once. It was quite easy but as much as hate shopping I prefer it to the online shopping as I can see what I am getting and can see new products or prices and compare them in store.

when we did our shopping a couple of items were replaced with other brands I don't usually use, and also having a guy in your kitchen standing looking lost while you try and work out if everything is there or not seemed a bit odd and akward.

We used the "no replacements" feature... so if they did not have the specific item requested it was not replaced by a generic or different brand.

Your wife sounds like me. Nothing more that I hate... I was relegated to "pushing the trolley" duties only. My only issue is that it seems to be only PnP that offer this AFAIK. Hard to compare the same trolley with different retailers.

I use the "no replacements" feature on brands I care about, like coffee or detergents.
