Pokemon Go!

I don't agree with botting but spoofing, if used for the right reasons, is okay with me.

again, as annoying as the botters and spoofers are, and as much as I want them all to never be able to play the game ever again regardless of reason for botting/spoofing or intentions behind it, I would not risk reporting them to have some annoyed Niantic temp decide to BAN all SA players. I mean I got the my nickname. I am Baxteen everywhere, if they ban this account I would have to start over, and sure I will be better off with stardust and I will level faster and be back at level 20 in a weekend, (the grind between 20 and 26 is a bit more) but I wont be Baxteen anymore!

If someone is physically disabled or terminally ill would you not grant them the pleasure of playing Pokemon by spoofing their location?

I do not like walking, or going outside, but I managed.

sure it sucks if you are bedridden, but unfortunately those who CAN walk abuse this same system, so no I would not grant them the pleasure of playing the game, sucks for them they cant play, they can find another way to entertain themselves, there are enough other ways to play pokemon.

what about Blind people they cant see, so should we make some sort of rule so they can play? no, those are the cards dealt, make the best of it...

and thehuman, that is still cheating, and I hope you get a permaban when they catch you. there is no excuse for gps spoofing.

and MagicDude4Eva, I am happy to hear I can use my nick, but I would prefer to just not get banned, because I do not cheat.

Agree to disagree then, I've read multiple stories of sick kids and other people whose spirits haven't been this high in ages just because of Pokemon Go, I won't deny anyone the pleasure of something because someone else abused the system.

Wow, this must be the most ignorant statement. I suggest that you properly educate yourself. There are a ton of less-abled people out there (including blind people) who would certainly outperform many able-bodied people.

So how would those people feel if able bodied people cheated? You are looking at what I said in a vacuum. My issue is with cheating not with disabled people.

So in the same sense, would you call a quadriplegic using an aimbot and a mouth-joystick which can be customised to have more macros than a regular PS4/Xbox controller a cheater?

Remember, cheating = gaining an unfair advantage over other people.

Just because I worked on a bot does not make me a cheater and I have no issue being banned. So I open another account and continue. What you might not realise is that there are people out there who use those bots to catch them all and spend real money on it. They can not go into the outside world due to physical limitations or medical conditions. Narrow-minded people who can not think that far will not appreciate the fact when a 8 year old in a wheel-chair can use a GPS simulator and a mouth-joystick to catch a Pokemon. Just sayin'

Again, if two weeks ago this issue came up I would have been all for the case of the 8 year old.

But then able bodied people went and killed that. So now timmy can't enjoy the game.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if they just hit a whole refresh on the South African region, especially if they kicked everyone out the gym. But I understand that they are people who have worked hard & used money to get where they are. But for me, it seems I cannot progress at same rate unless I start buying stuff.

I see a number of bots being held by by people who obviously used bots & no one seems to be at the level to take them down. I really want to screen shot this and post them around, issue is you never know if it was actually a legit player.

On the Facebook groups what people do is post screen shots and ask if they are a member so they can add them to high cp lists. I recommend doing that as well

No problem. Ignorance is bliss. Niantic is very well in a position to handle the bot- and cheating issues. Despite having all that knowledge from Ingress, they decided not to implement it in PokemonGo as they knew that this will generate extra revenue (same as what happens in Ingress, that those botters will spend a crap load of in-app purchases for lures, eggs and inventory space). Niantic decided not to regionblock the game during the launch-phase and allow people to violate the ToS to sideload the app as they knew that this will generate revenue.

What Niantic has now done with the ban-waves is moving those bots into the underground and away from Github and new farming bots are already running without Niantic ever knowing about it. The better way would have been to tolerate boting but putting restrictions on it (i.e. it is easy to detect bot activity and then you just disable gym-activity, evolving of pokemons etc for a period of time). I have now seen bots move a new account to level 30 in 2 days and I don't think that those accounts will ever be detected unless people take over gyms.

I don't think you fully appreciate how many people you will have offended with your statement:

The true cheater is everyone playing PokemonGo in SA: Everyone of you have created an unfair advantage against people legitimately getting the game through the local app-stores when it comes out. By then you will have high-level Pokemons in gyms and other people will just be laughed off when they rock up with a CP50 Weedle. It is a pity that Niantic is unable to reset regional accounts (as they do not have the capability), but I would have hoped for this to happen once South Africa rolls out.

Little Timmy (or Koos) will be super miff when his little Zubat has to fight Baxteen and his cohort of level-30s who have been cheating at the game for almost 2 months :whistle:
 
Finally got another 10km egg.

Hatched a psyduck and an Oddish out of 2 5km eggs.

And caught an Abra :D

Out of interest: If there are any true Pokemon X/Y players on here, how do you feel about people playing the game before it is officially launched? If I was part of the SA Pokemon league I would have an issue (but then again, I doubt that Pokemon X/Y players place PokemonGo really into the same category as their championships).

Granted I skimmed through but I don't see anything specially disallowing use of the app in regions where it isn't officially launched.

And at no point did I lie to Niantic about where I live or where I play the game.

I'm sure if they really didn't want people playing the game outside of the official regions there wouldn't be any spawn points, stops or gyms active anywhere other than where the game had officially been launched.
