Police doctor farm attack statistics

If you were as informed as some forumites reading the CA section, you would be aware of of the rest of the picture. I'm not in the mood for spoonfeeding tonight.

Only a person denying all the information, presented against the morals and behavior of the anc/sacp/cosatu leaders and members, can be going crazy. It's not all that bad, since it's called denial. Some get over it. Others die still believing that it is not happening. Ask killers. They are usually amused by this phenomenon. You would please a killer.

Posting articles from News24 and then having group hugs on how this is the worst country on earth does not make anyone informed.

That was a brilliant retort. No answers, just personal attacks and squealing loudly for mods to stop the truth being written. :p

What truth? That you and a few others have this deluded belief of a white genocide occurring? That the communists are taking over? That Zuma is gonna throw the whites into the ocean after the world cup?

I dont think anybody will deny the issues we have with crime, corruption etc, but the paranoia and predictions that have never come true from the "informed members" in the CA section is quite amazing.

No one here said this was the worst country on Earth. No one had groups hugs about it. Try not to "divert".

In your opinion...because it's the DA and News24 that mention the doctoring of the statistics, it's not informative... Great anc/sacp/cosatu ploy.

Information that points out that the reports are doctored, is informative.

Information provided by doctored reports, is not informative.

No predictions. Just constant highlighting of the intentions of the anc/sacp/cosatu. You, however, seem paranoid that these things are highlighted. If they really do not worry you, great. Others note it with enough concern to discuss it.

This is a forum where things are discussed. If you do not like it and your only contributions are insults and diversions, tough.

Do you think that Zim went to shirt overnight?
The rampant crime and corruption coupled with the likes of AIDS shower boy Zooma as president, it doesn't look at all promising that we'll be able to turn things around for the better and get out of the current downward spiral.

Very rich indeed, brain dead useless idiots lance, that is what they are. Although not totally brain dead, that one brain cell knows about pockets and filling them though. It is about the only thing our government is good at and my GOD they are good at it. You will not find better pocket fillers than our government. Born for the job :D.

All bloody agents i tell you!!!!!!!!!

South Africa's Murder Rate Far Worse Than Reported - Getting Away With Murder

You may chose to reject the information in this report, but it sure rings true of what's really happening regarding crime in SA.

South Africa's Murder Rate Far Worse Than Reported
Getting Away With Murder

A few snippets:

A shocking new report by United Christian Action presents evidence that South Africa's murder statistics are even worse than official statistics have so far admitted.

For every 1000 crimes committed in South Africa, only 430 criminals are arrested. Of these, only 77 are convicted and barely 8 of these are sentenced to two or more years of imprisonment. It is also calculated that South African convicts have a 94% recidivism rate (that is, 94% of all persons released after serving a sentence immediately become involved in crime again).

Serious Underreporting

The 22-page United Christian Action report by Robert McCafferty, is based on original source documents, government archives, the Central Statistics Service, Interpol, the South African Medical Research Council statistics, and many other sources. The Report casts serious doubt on the South African government's claim that the murder rate has been decreasing.

Statistical Discrepancies

While police crime statistics show that there were 21 683 murders in the year 2000, the Medical Research Council puts the figure at 32 482. The MRC' s estimate is close to the figure from the Department of Home Affairs, which is 30 068. This is a third more murders than reported by the SAPS, a discrepancy of more than 10 000 murders.

So, while the Democratic Alliance leaflet "Fight Crime" puts the average daily murder rate in South Africa at 55 murders every day, the Medical Research Council's statistics reveal that 89 murders are committed, on average, every day in South Africa.

Interpol claims even higher numbers of murders in South Africa. While the SAPS claims that there were 26 883 murders in 1995, Interpol claims that there were 54 298 "murders known to the police" in 1995/96. Interpol's figures are approximately double the numbers of "recorded murders" in South Africa.

According to Interpol, South Africa has the highest recorded per capita murder rate of the countries covered in their report for 1998, second only to Columbia. In that year, Interpol recorded the per capita murder rate in the USA as 6 per 100 000, while in South Africa it was 59 per 100 000.

The Failure of the Criminal Justice System

In 2000, only half of all murder cases were sent to court, and only 4007 of the 'official murders' resulted in a guilty verdict. The MRC reported 32 482 murders in 2000. This means that for every 8 murders in 2000, only one murderer was convicted. Obviously there is a delay factor to sentencing; however, the murder rate has been consistently high and the conviction rate considerably low by comparison.

One report is quoted claiming: "Despite the President's boast that South African crime statistics are improving - with reductions in incidents of some serious categories of offences - other figures showing the decline of convictions suggest that the forces of law and order are alarmingly on the retreat. Convictions for using and dealing with drugs, for example, collapsed ."

The Most Murderous Societies On Earth

The Nedcore Project has concluded that: "South Africa and Southern Africa are probably the most murderous societies on earth, even with the probable under-reporting." The Nedcore Project claims the results of their surveys "underscore the fact that crime has become South Africa's pre-eminent sociological problem. It now eclipses even unemployment in concerns of all South Africans."

The bizarre behaviour of the ANC government in, at one stage, imposing a moratorium on crime statistics is also questioned. The report shows that in the first seven years of ANC rule, violence and crime in South Africa increased by 33%, officially.

Disarming The Potential Victims Of Crime

With the massive increase in organised crime, and violent crime in South Africa, it is all the more incomprehensible that the government should be turning their attention towards disarming the potential victims through more rigid firearms control laws, rather than re-instating the death penalty as a deterrent for violent crime.

"When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, the hearts of the people are filled with schemes to do wrong." -- Ecclesiastes 8:11

It is also an undeniable fact that criminals prefer unarmed victims.

ANC plays race card in crime figures battle

February 26 2001

The African National Congress has accused opposition and media groups seeking to overturn the moratorium on crime statistics of being motivated by racism.

The ANC accused those involved in the campaign for corrupting police to release misleading statistics.

An article in the party's online mouthpiece, ANC Today, said the moratorium imposed in July was meant to ensure the police had reliable information to guide their operational planning and tht "the public is not misguided or misled about the crime situation".

Calls by opposition groups for the lifting of the moratorium before it could be ensured statistics were reliable suggested they had no interest in reliable crime figures or effective police planning.

The ANC article said that underlying the campaign by the opposition and media to force statistics to be released was the assumption that crime must be on the increase.

"According to them, the moratorium could only be for the purpose of hiding this reality.

"The reason this assumption is strongly held is that it is informed by the racist conviction that black people are inherently prone to crime.

"According to this racist perspective, this black government is therefore withholding the crime statistics from the public to hide its collusion with the perpetration of anti-white crime."

Independent Newspapers Cape is proceeding with a court application to have the moratorium on the release of crime statistics declared unconstitutional.

The application is supported by the South African National Editors Forum, which last week said the moratorium was inimical to the free flow of information and called for it to be lifted.

An old article, but nothings changed.

I really think it is time the mods clamped down on this sort of talk. How the hell are we expected to have intelligent, reasonable conversations on here when people make comments like this? I would actually like to ask the mods whether talk like this is perfectly acceptable?

Send them a PM. I know it's tough but try.

And let us know how you get on.

If the police reports every year that the crime went down by x% after our 16 odd year of reporting that crime went down. Are we not suppose to be a crime free country by now?
But surely if you open a newspaper or watch the news you se more murder and rape and its becomming more violently and the criminals are forming gangs to commit crime?

Oh really? Interesting that you know this and yet journalists who would love this sort of thing do not have these figures.

People are forced to drop murder charges? Yip, I can see how I'd be convinced to drop the charges if someone I knew or loved was murdered.

I am not for one minute defending correct statistics not being kept but you guys really do milk things for all they are worth without actually thinking about them sensibly. If someone was going to doctor figures they would not quote the same ones year after year. Use your brains... please!

Exactly ! Or even better why would they not simply quote the figures going down ?

Er, no. After that crime statistics were released. Of those statistics that were released the stats showed as many crimes to be increasing (such as housebreakings ) as others that were decreasing. If they're able to doctor crime stats why would they do this ?

You lot really do have your tins hats on today.

There's actually a fair amount of analyis on the doctoring / cooking of crime stats and how current police performance measurement perpetuates the practice in the latest Crime Quarterly from ISS. Interesting points of view

South Africa's Murder Rate Far Worse Than Reported
Getting Away With Murder

A few snippets:

This post is incredibly full of holes. Interpol in 1995 blah blah blah. In 1995 we still have a dual government. If they were hiding stats the national party was in on it. Can someone find me any article by interpol every reporting this number ? I googled it and all I find is a whole lot of right winged south african sites reporting this , without one ever linking to the source. Smells like total bollocks to me.

the by your own sources (interpol) murder has dropped by half between 1995 and 1998. Your own sources say this, but you're arguing crime hasn't decreased ?

Also interesting is that the same right winged people using the interpol number from 1995, totally ignroe the one from 1998 and carry that forward. Adriana striujt for example claims this is still the average murder rate and ignroes the mroe recent figure. How honest is that ? And you're peed with the A.N.C for using figures from 2 years ago ?

The rest it total yadda yadda with nothing to back it up but speculation. You're trying very hard to see something that isn't there.
