Did they attack the station to kill the 2 cops they took with or were those cops simply kidnapped and murdered because they happened to be in the bakkie? This is horrible.

I would guess that the main reason for the attack was to obtain firearms.
The chances are that, the early hours, the police were sleeping at their stations.
