Poll: Do you have OpenView? (and if so, why?)

Yes, it's a free service, and as we've seen in another thread here we like things free, but is it worth the setup costs?

There's also rumours that older decoders are or will be disabled - true? I know they did stop the option to use a USB stick for recording content...

So why did you go for it, or are considering it? R600+ for a decoder and possible dish setup costs as well, how is that worth just a couple of advert-filled movie and doccie channels?

It might be beneficial if you're in an area with limited Internet connectivity or if you prefer not to spend money on data.

I purchased one for my domestic worker, and she seems to be enjoying it.

Does OpenView have more than Digital Terrestrial TV, which is easier (in the cities) & cheaper to set up?

No streaming is where it's at. I even stream Vetkoekpaleis on SABC +.

Parents pay for DStv Premium. My brother with his family uses the 1 stream that comes with it for sport etc since I can manage otherwise.

I access DStv Stream now and again for KykNet + catchup KyKNet programs. I can access KyKNet through BlinkStreamz APK on the high seas, but not always smooth sailing obviously.

Sport is accessible through multiple sources and APKs, no problem.

OPENVIEW is for mindless background stuff like the Home Channel, and like now Rocky 3, and 4 is showing directly after each other on eMovies Extra. E-Reality is good.

And a brand new Afrikaans show, Kelders van Geheime with good local actors are showcasing- not a dubbed telenovela.

There is enough stuff on OpenView for when feeling like just having a decoder experience. It differs from " streaming ".
Will probably get the new OpenView decoder with PVR functionality. Nice backup to have, especially for when internet problems occur.

So yeah, I enjoy having an OpenView decoder, and having more channels than an entry level MultiChoice bouquet for which one needs to pay for. Sticking it to MultiChoice adds something to the OpenView experience!

Must say OpenView is really catering for Afrikaans more and more. Interesting actually. Wondering what their market research told them.
