I should never have switched from Telkom to Neotel!!
I wish I was still with Telkom!!

YES OR NO?

Still with telkom, not going anywhere near a wireless provider until things even out...!

No matter how much WISP's babble on about it, and brag on the radio ad's, there is no RELIABLE WISP in this country yet!

i am insanely happy with neotel currently ...
with telkom i was permanently offline , and never got the promised speeds.

so no ... no telkom for me.

I'm happy with Neotel, glad I'm with them despite some of the issues.

i have both at the moment and need to cancel one . problem is who do choose ? with telkom i have a 6 gig cap @ 512 kbps , neoconnect prime unlimited @ 512 kbps ( terrible speed  ) . So which of the 2 evil can i choose ?

ADSL was never a feasible option for me due the frequent intermittency I experienced and after almost a year trying to get that fixed the reality was that Telkom would not repair or replace the underground cabling that was the source of the problem not just for me but for others too.

I have been on NeoConnect Lite for 11 months now and overall my internet reliability and connectivity has been pretty good with the odd occassion of frustrating downtime.

At the moment transfer speeds are half of what they usually are and latency is a little high ave: 1200ms but I think that probably has something to do with the terrible weather I have been experiencing over the last few days.

Bottom Line
Switching from Telkom to Neotel has rendered a much more pleasant internet experience for me and the ability to cut internet costs to a 1/3 of what I used to pay sort of justifies my experience with Neotel and am happy to have switched over.

Neither, Telkom out of principle and Neotel as there's no coverage south of Durban.

Never Ever NEOTEL Ever Again - it was like a carrot dangling in front of me. Thought I had internet conectivity, but the carrot just got further and further away.

It then went rotten, and I decided never ever to go for the ORANGE carrot again.

No

Neotel has been more reliable than Telkom - scary. I live 800m from Telkom exchange, and 1000m from Neotel tower.

I also use my telephone a lot and the per second billing makes it worth my while. I will look at going 3G next year for my internet and use Neotel for my voice calls. Waiting for Vodacom / MTN / Telkom to first improve my 3G reception.

If the Telkom lines hadn't been stolen in my area ( Broadacres, Sandton ) too many times to replace anytime soon ( according to Telkom ) I'd still be with them.

I'd prefer fixed line over wireless any day. My 4Mbit DSL at my last house was rock solid and reliable for years.

Definitely No. I have NeoConnect Unlimited as well as 384kbps ADSL using prepaid bandwidth for Skype, gaming etc. I used to spend almost R1800.00 per month total cost for DoBroadband 3 + 20GB additional SAIX bandwidth, now I can use as much bandwidth as I want and still have a backup ADSL connection for about R500/month less.

Neotel rocks!!

Reading about a 6G cap makes me want to cry for you. Unless other service providers cut the price of their high speed uncapped services by a third, I'll never do the Telkom thing again. Before anyone dumps Neotel because of speed problems, make incredibly sure that you've followed all possible installation instructions and likely and unlikely strategies of your own. I made the mistake for a month or two to blame the Neotel network for my slow connection while it was actually my reception of it that was bad. The Neotel speed variations do annoy me; I'm having a slow day today, for example, with a transfer rate of 80-90kb/s. But overall the speed is never bad enough to make me want to do the endless gig counting with the other providers.
