Sad to see him go. I would have hoped he could end his career on a high. A five wicket hual would be great.

Shaun Pollock, the South Africa allrounder, has announced his retirement from international cricket following the second day's play against West Indies in Durban. The current Test will be his last, and the one-day series that follows his final matches for his country.

Good on you Polly. Thats the way to go after being treated so shabbily.

But if you believe the selectors, he doesn't. He was left out for quite a few test matches (6 I think) despite having better averages then Ntini and Nel over the previous 12 months worth of matches.

In high school, our cricket coach called him the white duracell battery, on account of his red hair.

Mind he can keep bowling at the same line and length longer than any duracell would last.

I will have a heavy heart when I watch him leave the field after playing his final game for the green and gold! He has been a wonderful servant of South African cricket for so many years!

I knew his retirement was coming but I had hoped that it would come in a few years time at least! Would have loved to see him play one more World Cup and help us win that brilliant gold trophy that's eluded us since 1992.....That would have be a fitting end to such a brilliant career!

I'm quite surprised to hear of his decision to retire.

He is something of a legend in South African cricket yes, he has served his country with dignity and excellence, fantastic ambassodor for the sport and the nation...
