Works perfect for a few days. Battery is fine.
Only way to start it is to hold gas pedal right down and swing it.
Normal starting requires no gas pedal.
Any ideas folks ?
Thanks
2010 1.4 Vivo

last service? best is to get it scanned for any error codes

That's weird considering its fuel injected which means stepping on the gas pedal just sends an electronic command to a computer, not like its injecting more fuel like a carb based engine would. I'd take it to a dealer ASAP!

+1, I was just thinking that. The last time I had to start a car like that was when I had a 1.4 Uno - with a carb :P

Morning all.
Car just out of warranty.
Daughter had it only 2 months. Full service history , checked at Roodepoort yesterday. They suggest Diag test. R850 !
Does it have a throttle ?
Cleaning fuse holders?
Battery seems fine. 12.65 measured after standing 2 hours.
Charges when running at 14.28.
Sadly father (me) has 10 left thumbs.....

Just out of warranty in terms of milage? IIRC they have a 5 year warranty, take it to a local mechanic for a diagnosis, VW will charge a hell of a fee

3 years! Wow they don't have much confidence in their own products, that's ridiculous!

Take it to a backyard mechanic make sure he smokes has a boep and wears his jeans too low without a belt, he'll sort you out chop chop.

Found a friendly man with laptop. Error code fuel pump relay shorts to earth.
Total cost R600.
Thanks guys
;);)

Battery isn't your problem since it started fine with application of more fuel. But I see you've already found the real problem and got away cheaply enough for it.

laptops fix cars, how far we've come:)

im surprised nobody suggested a fueling component that could be the problem.

Actually for about R200 you can get a ODB II Bluetooth dongle and scan the errors using you smartphone.

Can these also be used to program the cars computers? Just wondering since I see devices like GM's tech II cost close on R30K

You can clear errors with it and change some settings, for GM specifically you can get OP-COM for less than R1k. I use a cheap OBDII Bluetooth dongle for my Corsa-D (OBDII CANBUS) and OP-COM for my Astra-G (OBDI K-line)

Best cars! I had one, put almost 400000 k's on it, with very little servicing and even less issues
