Hi guys,i need your advice and input.

I am looking for my first car and will be getting a 2nd hand vehicle.im caught up between 2013 Polo 1.4 Comfortline and the 2013 Ford Fiesta Trend, both must be under 80000km mileage.

Im willing to go up yo to R130k car price through motor finance.so which of the two 2nd cars will be a good buy for a first car?im really loving the Polo but VW Theft and high insurance are weighing my mind hence im considering Ford Fiesta.should i just go for what i really love(polo) or it will be a bad move?

Thanks in advance

I wont go for either sorry

Ive had both and wont go for either. If I may suggest, get a Honda Jazz. The build quality is miles better, its lower on fuel, it has a nice auto gearbox with paddle shifters, its roomier inside, its nippy and fast, and the boot space is well about 100 litres more, and lastly once again its better built and more safe.

Fiesta. Very plasticky, heavier on fuel, tends to fall apart inside and out. Yip ive had dash panels fall off, and engine parts fall of. Let alone rattling here and there. It was ok, but it wont last. Rust easier too.

Polo. Hmm where do i start..., tincan and a computer. Also badly made locks, and boy are they expensive to fix when the locks go, and will they go. Put me off vw permanently. Had lock problems on a touareg, golf and the polo. 4500 per lock. Their service if not privately done can be very costly. Computer issues so you will find different strange things happening with it, and if the latest polo, lean against it and you will instantly have your first dent. VW isnt like they used to be and well i understand why 1 guy had to take his polo back 18 times due to issues. They are priced as if they are bmw, but lets face it, a vw isnt a bmw.

So, go for and drive a jazz. There is a reason why they keep their values soo well. They just drive great, is very spacious, and well are well built and maintained. Honda is just chugging along nicely.

Do you prefer to be hijacked or burnt alive?

Fiesta. Cheaper to maintain.

My car was stolen and I had to basically what you are doing. Gonna list the cars as I saw, from worst to best.

-The Toyota Etos is cheap (you can get a 2015 model) but it is a rubbish car. Stolen as much as the polo
-The polo is an expensive car but cheap when you get inside it, everything rattles and its a car thief's dream. Also no gadgets
-Fiesta I liked it had more space then I thought it would but was a bit concerned with the eco boost engine. Its a great engine but how long can it deliver that performance 3,5,10 years (I could be wrong but that was my thinking).
-Honda was great and everything well built etc etc but it looks and feels like a "moms" car. Felt like a slug to all others except for the etos.
-Hyundai I20 1.6 (the one I bought) was a great car felt fast and was sturdy on the road. Has plenty of gadgets and decent boot space.
-Kia Rio I battled to track one down when I did it was sold but took it for a test drive. I really liked this car

The Kia and Hyundai were pretty close to each other, I would have got the Kia Rio if I had more time but rental car was coming to an end and I had a choice of 5 Hyundai i20's.

Do you really need to buy a car right now?

If so, does it really have to be a 130K car? I am asking because debt really drags a person down, especially when you are young. I don't know your financial situation, but taking finance on a car scared me so much I saved my butt off for years just to buy a little cheap Toyota Aygo. I was able to pay cash and my brother let me tell you, the fact that I actually own it and only have to worry about insurance and petrol makes it the sweetest ride on the road.

Sorry for going OT. I find the Polo to be an incredibly boring driving experience (can only testify to a 1.6 though). My mom had a Fiesta, bits and pieces kept falling off/breaking (inside and outside).

I say look outside the box, you may find a true gem at that price.

I'd stay away from Telkom. Those cars are breaking down constantly

What sort of DSL connection does a Polo and Fiesta give you. :D

Wireless Fibre.

Is 100Mbps available?

In certain areas that you may visit your wireless fiber aka LTE Advanced will give you those speeds.

I agree, bought my first car cash was just a basic tazz(crap car that I hated but it done the job),today several years later I still sleep well at night knowing I have no debt but I've over the years upgraded and I drive a 320d and an x3 3.0d. Buying through the bank also costs much more which people don't realise.
