Does anyone else see a use or have a need for a pool data type system. Where you have one mobile sim card (master) and up to 10 slave sim cards that all pull data from the same account. And also the ability to move existing sim cards into and out of the pool in ClientZone.

Just a thought.... I do have a need for something like this.

Basically all 11 SIM Cards with a 10GB bundle share the 10GB with no specific set limit per sim.

Yip, it's the only reason I have an MTN data contract that I haven't killed off.. I need it for sharing data with.

Hello!

This is definitely something we are looking at implementing on our Mobile Data packages, and we are hoping that you won't have to wait too long for this to be implemented.

For the moment though, I believe MTN is the only SP that does actually have the functionality to share data between multiple sim cards.

Yes, I definitely need this.

No, Vodacom can do it too. We share Vodacom data bundles at work, because not every travels all the time.

@AfriGenie @AfriMan .. Any news on this happening? I want to kill off my MTN data contract.. Also will this require all SIMs be on contract ? as that kinda defats the purpose somewhat

I can't provide a detailed timeline as yet, there are a number of projects in the pipeline, so it is difficult to say how soon or when Data Share will be made available.

Is it too soon to ask if there's any progress on this?

+1 waiting for this for like forever,. As soon as this is enabled I can can other mobile contracts and expand my mobile data by at least double

Well, judging by the tumbleweed blowing through, I think we can assume that it's not going to happen.

yea its a pain.. gave in an moved ipad to afrihost (small account) and then will link with iphone to use data when needed. so wish i didnt need to register an account for each device tho.

Telkom also have the MultiSim allowing up to 4 additional linked sims to an existing TM contract

Yah SA Cellular penetration is > 100% for this reason, people own more than one cellular network device and service providers need to address this and family sharing of services

Serious business customer potential here. Purchase a large pool of data which gets shared between employees.

This and Afrihost voice can't come soon enough...

Wuoldn't surprise me if AH Voice is going to be the launch of MTN's wifi calling.

Surely this can not be to difficult for the Dev Team to implement?
I am mean looking at the things ClientZone can already do, I am sure the backend already has this ability. No word from the AfriTeam?

Also MTN already has DataShare on their contract and prepaid sims that allows one to do just this.

I don't think it's a priority for them. The fact that the Afrihost reps are studiously ignoring this thread is proof of that.

I really don't get the issue to be frank.. it's actually easier than the MTN data share as this is provisioning of a MSISDN to an APN. Thereafter (there is a cost associated with doing this btw), data pooling is easily done on the ISP side as its just different management..

I guess there is a risk with data usage but thinking its to do with their double mobile data. See if you pool data, then you more likely to use 80-100% of data vs 60-80% per account. I know this as it happens with ADSL data months ago when i was sharing it.. use to measure and track.. but multiple accounts is a nuisance to switch. But then surely people will just buy larger capacity accounts? I'd be curious to know what the avg % of usage vs allocated for mobile accounts are.
