Friend got this filter, he needs to remove it weekly and clean it with water. Is it the only way to clean it. There is no backwash option, just the pump and this filter. 20230726_171202.jpg20230726_170929.jpg

Never seen that one before. Interesting. So sandless?

That stupid yellow filter on the bottom right is the worst curse of my existence. I can never open that round plastic lid without scraping skin off my hands.

Nothing stupid about it. But, as installed in this example, it would be quite a mission to remove the lid even with the special spanner supplied with the pump. Now who lost that spanner is the only stupid involved here besides the dumbass installer who built that setup.

You get a plastic tool called a Spec Pump spanner to open it, I just use my hands.

I've had 2. they both snapped in about 2 months. I now use a metal rod and a hammer but they also left no space for much leverage either.

I've got a metal speck pump tool. Previous owner had it 3d printed.

Rubber mallet with a technique called gentle persuasion. Love taps all around should have it come loose enough to turn it with your hands.

Just be careful as I used that same technique for a while on my Speck filter and it led to some leaks...granted my pump isn't bolted to the floor so I could have done better from the start! Eventually invested in the Speck Spanner and it works like a bomb + no more leaky pipes :)

I have the same filter and yes thats how you clean it.
With these filter you must stay away from anything that has water clarifier/ flocculant in, as they will block that filter.
I have cut all that paper of mine when it was old and needed replacement and now I put my own two layers of sponge/cloth on and just need to take it out once a month remove and put new one and wash the old in the washing machine

Yes sandless and no wasting water with backwash

That spanner can just loosen it and not fasten it. You fasten the lid by hand so maybe you use something to fasten it that is to tight or you to strong.
