Everytime my pump start up, it pumps a lot of air into the pool, for about 10 seconds, no water, just air, then just water. Where should I look for air that can enter.
During normal operation, there are no bubbles or air coming out.

Is there enough water in your pool?

I experience this when the water level drops too much

That's odd. Only other thing that comes to mind is that there could be a leak in the plumbing.

Maybe the seal on top of sand filter not perfect anymore, sometime you can see a bit of water coming out there when pump is running. Check of all those little screws are still tight

You have a broken seal somewhere OR do kids/gardeners take your crawler out your pool? If the creepy is taken out the pool, it breaks the existing water in the system and cause air bubbles to enter. The pump is just doing its job by sucking the air and creating the vacumn, especially if your pump is "above" your pool.

The pool run when I am not home. I only start it manualy to backwash it, etc. Will go and check the pluming when time allows it.

Also check the multiport valve, had to change mine last week as the inner rubber gasket was knackered, quick to check, turn off pump, turn valve selector to between filter and either one of the side options so the spring inside is compressed, unscrew all 6/8 bolts, remove the top valve selector part and check the 6/7 space rubber gasket - it should be glued down to the main body indents and firmly in place. Check there's no crud or sand from the filter, some silicone grease over it and put back together.

If the gasket is knackered grab a replacement from builders, hardware store or a pool shop.
Did the trick for me and there's no air now at all.

Also check the suction regulator at the weir, if you have a kreepy or similar, often gets blocked and sometimes creates an air vortex sucking in air to the pump filter box.

I am curious, why do you want the spring compressed while opening? I have done it many times without having the spring compressed.

Just made it easier to remove/refit without side pressure on the bolts when loosening and tightening back up; the plastic bump-outs the bolts fit through don't look too solid on some units
