Poor attendance at public E-toll meetings

Just burn down all the gates and get it over with. I doubt many people would mind.

Even if we didn't have work, and there was more people present, what would it accomplish apart from wasting our time? They'd just go ahead and do as they please anyway.

That's what the article said was the case anyway.

You get this a lot in activism. Everyone is happy to be an armchair activist. Very few are actually willing to roll up their sleeves and get work done.

Well..on the radio today they played a clip of where a guy was told basically that if he does not behave he will be forcibly removed. So what...you basically have to just sit there like a good little boy while they tell you how its going to go down or you get kicked out?

According to the governmnet E Tollie is a done deal anyway. They have said so many times publicly.....so whats the point of these hearings exactly? I dont get it.

We can just hope and for those thats so inclined pray to who or what ever that the court rules in our favour.

Yep, all talk, no action. And yet they'll be the first to moan about the state of things.

We all know these hearings are a farce and only happening as it is protocol. Why waste your time going? The cANCer knows full well that 100% of the public opposes this, so why the need for consultation?

“Residents at the meeting… were angry that having at last had an opportunity to discuss the tolls, they were told that Cabinet had already agreed to the proposal and that these meetings could not change that decision,” said Cosatu’s Patrick Craven.

I remember when we used to do activism against Telkom and their insane pricing. Everyone had something to say. Only a handful of people actually tried to do something about it.

They will hopefully encounter the same level of apathy when it comes to compliance, which is all that's necessary. That's if the court doesn't sink the whole pile of excrement...

There wasn't really much done to notify people of these meetings.
Also only letting us know the day before is simply not good enough.

I will be attending the CSIR meeting THIS evening, but like many have done in Kempton last night, if it's going to be a session explaining HOW e-tolls WILL work, I'll be making a loud departure in disgust

I'd hardly call myself a moaner, but I thought that a government is elected to act on behalf of the people. But now the people need to act against government or they need to stop moaning? Unfortunately not everybody is flexible when it comes to these things, we do have lives and commitments. And even for those who are able to sacrifice their time to attend, what will the end result be? They go ahead and do as they please anyway.

Who decides on the agenda?
