poor axxess latency vs other ISP's

to cut a very long story short, I cant watch the tennis via the service I subscribed to because the response I get from the server through axxess is so poor...

they have 450kbps 850 kbps and 1mbps quality settings. I cant even watch on the 450 setting without it sticking like a son of a bitch

I have a 4MB uncapped express account.

I know its a sat account, but Im getting 450ms from the stream server when Im getting 175ms and 225ms from other ISP's... Surely Sat can not be THAT much more...

Worth mentioning that I can watch on 1mbps with NO ISSUES on the non axxess accounts.

I've sent [email protected] an email asking them for some feedback...

Well as an active WoW player ( me and the wife ) its sad to see 1000ms+ on my Express account . then your buy a prepaid 1gb from axxess and both pc's run well under 400ms ( being max). i have loged a call or two before, but alwas same issue . "well inform our upstream provider".... if things dont get better soon , i'm canceling all services with this provider, hosting etc..

and axxess was doing so well at some stage :|

i had a sat account too, but changed to fibre - best extra R100 bucks i spent! i reckon IS don't really upgrade their satellite stuff for broadband, coz fibre is the future...

Sat is allot slower in latency than the fibre option I'm surprised you get below 400ms to tell you the truth what normally takes 220-240ms to a site like google.com on a sat cable can range from 800ms-2000ms. Yes it really is that big a difference. 100 bucks is worth it

Completely.
Axxess pretty much only resell and market the IS products.
If you are after low latency then fibre is by far your best bet.

Ah ok, there you have it then. Guess it's worth the extra hundred bucks.
I'm assuming that live streaming is completely different to normal video downloading / streaming.
Sat accounts just don't work for low latency requirements.

Think about the connectivity due - light traveling through a relatively short optic cable or sending something to space and back...
