I wanted to cancel my Month to Month data bundle Yesterday. I log-in in to Vodacom4me to cancel it but I received a technical error. So I phoned 155 to cancel it, but they said their system was down and could not help but they will make a note and as soon as the system come back. I also told them that it is important as it is the last day of the month.

This morning when I checked on Vodacome4me it was not canceled. Now I must pay another month for a service I do not use:mad:

I phone 155 twice today, and I was cut off on both occasions after holding for about 10 minutes:mad:

PM me your contact details and I'll get 155 to sort you out.

Shocking service from VODACOM... what's new??? I got the run around, "yes we sell iPhone's but no we don't support them, speak to APPLE!"

APPLe says, VodaSCUM (their words) are supporting the iPhones, we just shift boxes!

Go figure... going to cost me +-R1500 to repair a 4 hour old iPhone 3G :(

When you got your iPhone, you would have received a document stating the procedure on how to get an iPhone repaired. I think it was also published here.

If no-one is taking responsibility (according to your post), who gave you the R1500 quote?

Any 4-hour old device is under warranty, so who (and why) is trying to charge you? What is actually wrong with the device?

Did you drop it? :) Or jail-break it? :):)

Screen cracked, the quote is from iGear for a replacement screen, I wouldn't mind paying Apple or Vodacom to repair, but neither party wants to or can...

Thought so. :)

Your post did not indicate this, and to be fair, 'support' is a bit of a different situation than replacing broken screens.

The repair policy is determined by Apple and not Vodacom.

I could be wrong, but is the warranty on nearly all handsets for the first 12 months, not covered by the relevant manufacturer [in this case Apple], and after the first 12 months Vodacom provides an extended warranty of sorts depending on the handset?

Yes, except in this case (iPhone) we were not allowed to extend the warranty. So, it's 12 months only. But the phones also don't get repaired. As with other Apple products, you take it in and they swap it out.

Interesting and now another reason I would shy away from buying an iPhone in the future - Apple's arrogance amazes me.

It's their first international phone, and you know how people faf about their first-born. ;)
Just seems silly that Apple would prefer to mandate a death sentence on its first born after 12 months instead of allowing it live longer and grow up with future siblings...

Yes, but what APPLE locally told me is speak to VODACOM as they repair the phones, it's o.k. I bought another for the wife and going to fix the other for myself. It's just a pity that VODACOM got the deal, when the iPhone should have been sold as via an independant party, and then the end user could decide which provider to use, but alas this is ZA and we have to be dictated too :(

Still a good phone, and the wife is loving it, best phone she has had, and I have been a VODACOM contract payer for going on 13 years and always got the best (which gets passed onto the wife, when something newer and better comes along :) )

My wife also swears by it.

Have a look at the doc you got with phone. You'll see it's a swap-out model.

I'll say it again, all these 'rules' around the iPhone, is Apple's contribution.

You don't see similar structures with other phones from Vodacom, do you?

No sure, a manager from the data center phone me and said they will cancel the Month-to-Month bundle and give me a credit but when I look Vodacom4me I'm still subscribed to the Month-to-Month. I can only verify the credit at the end of the month when I receive my statement.

Thanks for all the help vodacom3g!

Sadly this has not been done. My data bundle has NOT been canceled and I did NOT receive a credit as promised.

This means I will have to pay for another month for a service I do not use:mad:

Eish, PM me the details again and I'll (re)escalate it.

Don't think I kept your details from last time around.
