I am using a 2/28 regular IS account from Openweb.

I'm downloading 5 http files via Rapidshare using Orbit on a 4MB/s line. That is 50 individual download threads. My download speed barely reaches 70KB/s.

The deterioration in IS download speed over the course of this year is truly alarming.

On SAIX it maxes the connection. Just 6 months ago this would max out an IS connection too (and that was on an uncapped account!). Only a month or so ago I was getting double this speed on IS (+-150KB/s) .

It seems to get worse by the day.

I can understand heavy shaping/throttling on uncapped accounts.

But why do it on their regular accounts? It makes no sense at all.

I cancelled all my WA IS accounts. Bad service & slow speeds says it all. :(
I’d rather get along without it. On plain SAIX from today onwards.

IS offers such bad service. i emailed them the other day and i got read receipts for the emails and they never bothered to reply. one person even deleted the damn email without reading it. hopeless bunch. IS is just poor to say the least and i for one do not appreciate their crap service. SAIX is the way to go.

I'm getting piss poor speeds on IS, even for browsing..

Trying to play a little online poker for ****s and giggles is a waste of time due to time out connection failures. A normal http download rarely gets about 15Kbs..

The whole thing sucks balls

Hi,

I'm really tired of talking about crap service. Me too have been complaining about speeds, both on the IS accounts and on the OpwenBrowse product which (I could be wrong) also run off the IS backbone - cause whenever IS is slow...OpenBrowse is slow...like now - I'm on the forum now becuase I can hardly open an International web page

I agree with the previous poster..SAIX's performance is 100 times better than that of IS.

Mr.Beep, please save us...what is going on with OpenBrowse?

That sounds to me like a typical BOFH response...Agent: Hmmm, please hold sir while I look up today's excuse for our slow network. :D

Well, I've been getting VEEEERY slow speeds on my IS account.

Last month I managed to download only 12GB on my 2/28GB OpenWeb IS account..

Even on the "cached" content from the news servers I get 4-8KB/s
It's irritating the crap out of me..

Last night I tried to download something again from the newsserver, It's a 186MB download, and I downloaded 125MB in 7 hours of sleep.... CACHED CONTENT on IS :)

I way getting average 30 KBps yesterday on my 1GB/9GB account, and I'm on a 384 kbps line :) The data was international, I was using Download Accelerator Plus with 2 downloads each running 4 threads.

But some international servers are just slow, I found one that gave 3-5 KBps and only allowed for one thread

I don't believe the problem is International, I've compared downloading from the same site with an IS and SAIX account and my SAIX account certainly out performed the IS one.

So, the moral of the story? if you need the data bad enough...fly there and fetch it personally, especially if your IS download status on a 500MB file says...ETA 8 days.

Yes, the speeds are appalling. And to me it looks like the speed on regular IS accounts is getting slower by the month.

I am flying to China for a meeting towards the end of the month, anyone want me to download stuff that side and bring back on DVDs???
