Poor Telkom LTE coverage

I live in Midrand and I am thinking of taking a 5 or 10 gig Telkom LTE data contract. I bought prepaid data to test the speeds before taking out a contract. I must say, very poor download speeds. Does anyone else have the same issue. Sometimes my data connection changes to edge.

I have the same issue in centurion. Have 3 LTE routers and two iphones. download speeds are less than 3mbps and upload less than 1mbps. With my vodacom sim download is +50mbps and download +20mbps. Have spoken to telkom and they think it is the device. It is clearly not as vodacom is running very fast on them.

I was thinking it might be the frequency that is not supported on some modems and phones? 2300MHz for telkom?

Telkom LTE works on 2300 MHz. Do your devices ?

Not sure but I think the iPhone should support it. Telkom is advertising them with their LTE network. Very good speeds on Vodacom. Telkom should be better as they have wider LTE channels but I also can't get more than 3mbts.

Ok the Note 3 does not support 2300Mhz. But iPhone still slow on Telkom

Mine does support but seems like a problem with the network. Upload speed is under a 1 meg. Telkom has escalated the issue and are investigating.

As far as I know the South African Iphone 6 and 6S supports TD LTE 2300MHz

How far away are you from the TM tower and is the tower LTE enabled? I Have a Vodacom sim and the reception at my house is piss poor, however TM and Cell C have amazing speeds here because their towers are less than 1km away and LTE enabled.
