I've been using LTE for a month now. I don't have a problem with the download speeds, i get decent speeds of up to 20mbs :)

My upload speeds are extremely slow. I average about 100kbs :wtf: I havent ever reached 1mb

My problem is whenever I send an email my internet goes extremely slow. I even battle to do a simple google search :cry:

Anyone else experience this?

I'm sorry if this is repeated post

Your upload speed sends requests to the outside world for content, then your download speed kicks in when they send you that requested content.

So if you're maxing out your upload speed with an email that you're sending, any request for content will make it slow to get through.

I would check signal if I were you. Download speed is dependant on the tower's signal strength TO you, but your upload speed is dependant on YOUR signal strength TO the tower.

Perhaps a simple antennae setup on a permanent basis would help boost it significantly enough to get around the issue. Otherwise I'd say call your provider to ask what they can do to help you since your upload speeds isn't sufficient enough

Do you use external directional antenna?
What are upload speeds when using internal antenna?

Thanks guys for the feedback.

I have Telkom Huawei B315s modem. No external antennas. Upload speeds are 100kbs average.

I spoke to the guys at Telkom mobile centre but those guys are super clueless. Some agents even directed me to the ADSL call centre :wtf:

Tower has problem receiving your transmission or tower has a problem. Try to change position of the router to get better signal, but signal doesn't tell you all. Keep your eye on Cell_ID, it identifies your tower.

To read Cell ID log to the router first and then go to here: http://192.168.8.1/api/device/signal
In IE you probably get message "Internet Explorer cannot display this feed", go to menu View -> Source, you get something like this:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<response>
<pci>78</pci>

<cell_id>453377</cell_id>
<rsrq>-6dB</rsrq>
<rsrp>-97dBm</rsrp>
<rssi>-75dBm</rssi>
<sinr>2dB</sinr>
<rscp></rscp>
<ecio></ecio>
<mode>7</mode>
</response>
A number inside cell_id XML tags is what you want.

That router usually comes with a external antenna. Just ask for it to be installed.

I picked up the same thing when doing my DIY Antenna install.

Even though the download speeds were great, the upload speed was slightly low.

So I used the source code provided by sajunky and aligned it to get the best possible figures.

I came across this older thread and I was wondering what you then do with the Cell_id?
