I thought it may be an idea if we post popular custom roms in one thread that those of us who are interested in going that route are aware of all of the choices available to us.

As some roms are customised for different phones. I think it would be best to state the name of the rom, the version of android it runs and the make of phone its developed for.
This thread will only work if people who have run custom roms post what they believe to be good and stable roms for the noobies on the forum, like myself.

Darky's 10.1 (2.3.3) http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/v10-1-fast-sleek-beautiful.3100/
and Juwe's 5.2 (2.3.4) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964672
for the Samsung Galaxy S are both popular options that I've seen come up countless times in the Galaxy S thread.

Another name that is thrown around a lot for people modding their android phones is Cyanogen. To my knowledge, you can flash on any of like 20 different android enabled phones.

If anyone else is running a cool custom rom, please share it with the rest of us.

I have been using MIUI. Based on a Chinese ROM.

The ROM is stable, includes a lot of options for customizing. The best I found so far is the built in option to monitor your call and traffic usage. Works exactly the same as DroidStats (although not as in depth).

Weekly updates, and although the battery life is not amazing, I still manage to get through a day of phone calls, emails, SMS, WhatsApp and more with about 30% left at about 19:00.

Just make sure you do an EFS backup on the ROM to save your IMEI otherwise this can be frustrating.

for the Desire - Oxygen 2.1.6

Reflex S 2.1.2 Lite Gingerbread
HTC Desire

waiting to download version 2.1.7

Again for the HTC desire: Redux and Gingervillain. I have tried both and prefer Oxygen.
