Porn problem among SA teens

Oh, I'm sorry, is this a problem?

Teenagers watch porn. Welcome to Earth.

Rather let them watch it, than make it. But that's easy for me to say I don't have any kids.

Maybe the folks should lock up their collection a bit better? :D

Yeah, I guess some of the forumites here close their eyes when they get in the bath :D

Its just porn mom, and it wont go away, you wouldnt believe what the kids see today...

Porn, Alcohol, Drugs...moral decay at its best.

Yeah, cause porn, alcohol and drugs are a new thing to society right? Its not like humans have being doing all 3 of those since the dawn of recorded history and often in worse volumes than we have now (decadence of Rome, Opium in China).

Perhaps we should go back to the time where we where more "moral" and get us some concubines (which you could obtain at the age of 12) with no human rights, and start a couple of Opium wars.

Did you think about this before you typed or where you just jumping on some imaginary moral bandwagon only you can see?

I wonder what the proliferance of porn on cell networks combined with a violent upbringing which so many kids from poorer backgrounds are exposed to will hatch out in our future society... talking South Africa specifically...

Not new, no, but it has never been so prolific - and I'm not just talking commercial material, I'm talking pictures of your children, their friends, your spouses, your parents, etc... Only a person with blinkers will ignore the fact that porn has a much higher effect on today's society than ever before in history. I believe that is partly what the article is pointing out, and it's valid - for better or worse, it is shaping our society. The arguments for and against will continue ad nauseum, but sometimes it takes decades to see the results.

Can those who post indicate how many children they have? How many who have posted so far have children? I'm just interested, whether there is a point or not might be evident in the end, but it would be interesting. I have 3 of primary school and out of school ages.

The generations in WW1, WW2 and Vietnam must have had some hardcore stuff!

Seriously though, violence isn't the only problem we face - what about productivity and reality of what is valuable in life - an example could be the way we look at farming - most of us couldn't care less, but without farms we wouldn't survive... as society we have forgotten that (at least most of us have)... with so few actually farming these days, and so few caring about the affect we have on the environment for example, how long until our crammed cities self destruct.

And yes, it's on topic - we are discussing the effect something so prolific can have on oure lifestyle and outlook. Values change - the value you place on a relationship changes. The way guys and girls look at porn is very different - does it not further alienate the sexes by enhancing the already skewed outlook guys are prone to have of girls?

Ok, coming from a farming community I can honestly say farming in SA is as good as its ever being, if not better. The farms are doing just fine. Perhaps because you might not be involved in a farming community you do not get the same type of information as I do?

Guys and girls look at pr0n differently? I know a real lot of girls who really like their pr0n as well. Times are a changing...equality n'all :P

I blame the VCR for the moral decay in this country.
BETAMAX FTW!!!!
Oh wait... same argument, different decade.

I blame printed media for the moral decay in this country... them and their colored pictures... douh!

It was the LP I tell you... you see what rock did to my parents? If it wasnt for rock I would have normal, distant parents instead of the loving caring ones I have now :D

Knowing alot of people who look at porn is not relevant to the point. The point was not whether more girls are looking at porn, it was the affect it has on relationships - for better or worse, I'm not even going to get into that debate, but the fact remains, it shapes our society.

As for farming... you live in a little farming community with no contact with the outside world?
Why then are people starving worldwide if not as a result of our modern (warning: general term) society...
I think there are plenty of people who beg to differ on that point.

It's not helpful to put blinkers on and blame others for the way the world is one day. You could just get involved in a positive way or at least check it out objectively.

ok im sorry but porno is the best thing ever

try living with and being engaged to girl for more than 4 years

porn fills the gap when your only gettin twice a month

porn is also very good to watch as it gives you idea's, dont think for one second the ladies dont like porno

i would be more concerned about TIK than i would about porno

whats the first thing a guy does when he gets a pc and internet?

searches for porn

brad porno has no effect on a relationship so long as your fiancee wife g/f does not mind you shaking the monkey to it

my g/f has no problem with my porno habits and actually watches some of it, she even admitted it to me

i think war drugs etc is worse than having sex or watching porn, when i have kids i would rather they are having sex and watching porn than getting high on tik

men are visually stimulated so porno should be seen as cheating on your partner
brad have u walked through a shopping centre and seen a really hot girl and thought to yourself i would do her?

It can be fantastic in a relationship... especially when you make your own private... ;) Yes, more girls are looking at pr0n, and there is even research that suggests it reduces rape and violent crime in the real world: http://www.slate.com/id/2152487/fr/rss/ (serious!)

I come from a farming community, and my family has farm land. I have lived in the 3 large cities a real lot lately.

Why then are people starving worldwide if not as a result of our modern (warning: general term) society...

Greed and the way globalization is being handled.

I think there are plenty of people who beg to differ on that point.

I am sure, but luckily the Amish dont have the Internet :D
