Facelifted Porsche Taycan unleashed with up to 700kW, insane acceleration

The Porsche Taycan has been given a significant makeover for 2024, headlined by performance and battery upgrades that make the electric sedan and Cross Turismo wagon even more ferocious and efficient.

The Taycan Turbo S flagship now boasts a system output of 700kW, a 140kW improvement that allows it sprint from 0-100km/h in a mere 2.4 seconds. Even the base Porsche Taycan, with 60kW more than before, is able to dart from 0-100km/h in an impressive 4.8 seconds.

Porsche has introduced a new push-to-pass function in the Sport Chrono package, which can provide a 70kW overboost for 10 seconds at the push of a button.

In prototype form the Taycan Turbo S has already smashed the Nurburgring record for EV sedans, and you can read more about that here.

Owners will also get further on every charge, with the new line-up offering range improvements of up to 35% depending on the model, with the battery capacity having grown from 93kWh to 105kWh.

Apple CarPlay+ debuts in the new 2025 Porsche Taycan

Porsche took the wraps off the updated 2025 Taycan earlier today. The best-selling EV from the performance brand has brought a host of improvements - more power, more range, faster charging being key among those. Meanwhile, the infotainment got its own refresh - Taycan is now the first vehicle to sport the newest version of the in-car infotainment, dubbed Apple CarPlay+.

While both Aston Martin and Porsche previewed the new technology last year, there was little available in terms of details. We knew the Apple CarPlay+ was going to be heavily integrated into the vehicle’s systems, promising an uninterrupted Apple experience and full control of the car through a familiar interface. Courtesy of one of the first reviews of the updated Taycan by Autogefühl, we got a closer look at the new solution.

After linking your iPhone with the vehicle via the Porsche app, the new CarPlay+ becomes available, although somewhat confusingly it is shown under a Porsche logo. Despite the unnecessarily complicated first step, what follows is quite a pleasant experience.

Starting with a completely new screen layout, we have access to all vehicle’s functions. There is no longer a need to fumble for climate controls or ambient lighting - everything now is just a touch away and available on one screen. Simple improvements like the Climate Modes mean one-touch adjustments depending on the needs, complemented with custom programs that are easy to set up.

Performance, range-topping Porsche Taycan due next week

More powerful Porsche Taycan will be the "most dynamic of all time"

Porsche is primed to reveal the most powerful Taycan ever built next week, with modified exterior bodywork, ramped-up performance and upgraded aerodynamics.

The new edition of the electric sports saloon, which will top the Porsche Taycan range as “the most dynamic Taycan of all time”, was previewed by the German brand with an image that revealed a bespoke rear spoiler.

We’ll have to wait until Monday 11 March to find out more, where the model will be unwrapped by Porsche’s product line vice president Keven Giek, former La Mans racing driver Timo Bernhard and the brand’s development driver Lars Kern.

At present, the most powerful Taycan, the Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo, produces a staggering 938bhp, hitting 0-62mph in just 2.4sec.

Given Porsche has described this new version as the most powerful ever, it’s likely to pack over 1000bhp. That would put the electric saloon within touching distance of the 1005bhp Tesla Model S Plaid.

The new Taycan will certainly benefit from boosted aerodynamics and downforce to handle its ramped-up performance.
