I googled for SA pages with ELWUG in them and was disappointed to see that East London has no hope of having a WUG... and ELWUG sounds so nice too.

Aah well... I believe our biggest wireless users group is in the informal settlements where electricity is scarce and batteries common... those wireless sets don't use much juice.

In fact I have come to the conclusion that EL has no other definition for wireless.

Ok, so I read Skydogs post, and it looks very interesting. I am in Lorraine, near the back, and to completely honest, I havent got loads to drop on this, but I will certainly spend a bit. In terms of time, ja, I am keen.

Plus I know a few maore ppl, say 4 or 5 whi also live in Lorraine who will prob also be keen

I signed up a while ago as gIMp on PEWUG, not sure where to post my locations... currently my total wireless equipment is my wireless router for my adsl connection. Gonna need some help finding out what I need. Prob gonna get some testing equipment from pinnacle micro this weekend to try to test signal strengths etc between myself and a mate down the road. Where are the nodes that PEWUG currently has up?

I have put a post under new users.

The one bloke is in the same complex as me, so I def have line of site to him. The other guy is about 800m down the road in from me further down the hill, so I assume that i might have LOS, but there is no chance I am climbing on my roof in the rain to check

ITO testing equipment, I am really not sure, will try to find out. Please understand, I know VERY little about wifi, etc, so I am going need some baby steps to get this thing going.

Ok, so it looks like we wont get the testing equipment
