A question to all the members, are you also experiencing Port Errors from time to time on your ADSL lines. It can be identified as the PPP light on the router/modem that goes out - not lit up. Creating a dial-up connection and putting the router/modem in bridged mode and trying to connect results in an Error 678 - Remote host did not respond message on the dial-up connection. The only way to resolve this then is to call our "Friends" and listening to their song and dance until eventually you get a Ref no out of them. When inspecting the connection log's to the server provider after the fact show
"2007-05-05 08:26:112007-05-05 08:34:240.00000.00010.0002 Port-Error"
sometimes these port errors can last several hours and calls to the service provider Cybersmart in this case, confirms that.
The question is, what causes a port error, and if it is a network problem, at Tel*** why should it be necessary for me to report to them about their network errors/failures.
Thank you in advance for all the responses
