Hi All
I am running linux sme server 7.3 and I have just installed openvpn
I would like my adsl router to forward to the sme server but I do not seem to be getting it right.
I registered a domain with dntdns.org but I seem to reach my router but it will not hop to my server
I am using a mega100wr router.
Opennpn says that port 1723 must be supported using protocol 47 and GRE

is this supported on this router

Thanks

Lional

I might be off here, but I think you need to tell your router to forward the traffic to your resver's IP, i.e. tie up your router IP with your server IP. On my router (older Telkom one) I had to open the port and point it to my pc's Lan IP, under the Vritual server tab.

Also I use the DynDNS app which updates my IP with the created dns IP.

Hope that helps...hmm hope it even makes sense.

How will this be done on a mega 100wr router. I am not very clued on that side of things

Thanks

Lional

on the Mega100 you'll have to first add the server's ip address as a LAN Client, then first select the ip address (from lan client list) before setting up the port forward. Sorry I don't have a Mega100 router of my own so I cant giv step by step insrtuctions, but its quite easy.

Hi

Can anyone help me please. I have a Linksys AM200 ADSL Modem connected to a WRT54GL running Tomato firmware. I am trying to setup dyndns and connect to a 2003 server. Do I need to setup the dyndns credentials on the modem or the router? Also where should the port forwarding be set?

Also should I use the remote access server in windows 2003 or use something like openvpn. I have installed openvpn but not familair with its configurations. Any other suggestions?

Thanks a lot.

If the AM200 is a modem, then it is exactly that - a modem. Your dynamic dns provider credentials must be set in the router (if it can handle that).
And it is also the router you would have to open up and forward the relevant RAS/VPN PPTP, L2TP etc whatever you choose to use ports to your server ip.

Donno anything about openvpn, but there's nothing wrong with 2003 ras.
