Please I need help.
I need to port forward DotA on a Billion 800VGT. I just can't seem to get it right.
Currently my settings are:
Application: WarcraftIII
Time Schedule: Always On
Protocol: tcp
External Port: 6112 - 6119
Redirect Port: 6112 - 6119
IP Address: 10.0.0.101
So please where is the breakdown in communication?
_________________________________________________________________
My routers firewall is off any Norton's AV 2008 Firewall allows W3l to access the net.
Thanks Nth0862

Is the firewall on the router enabled? If it is you will have to allow those ports through the packet filter.

Is there maybe other firewall software that could be affecting it?
Your set up is right, so I would suspect that there is something blocking the ports.

As far as i understand the port you want to forward for wow to work is port 3724 tcp for the game to work and udp at port 3724 for voice chat
wow uses port 6112 and port range 6881-6999 for downloading patches

check wowwiki http://www.wowwiki.com/Port_Forwarding

Best way to test whether the ports are open would be to use a Port mapping application that can test whitch ports are blocked and whitch ports are not......

There are allot of these freeware applications going around the Web.

To enable his firewall he must goto configuration and Firewall and enable the firewall. click and apply then save config.

Login into your router go to configuration > VPN > PPTP > LAN to LAN then click on the next button.

This is for configuring PPTP in the Head office

Connection Name: Head office
Dial in: Checked
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Private IP to dialling in user: 10.0.1.2
Peer Network IP: 10.0.0.2 (Branch office)
Put in your username and password.

Click on apply then save config.

This is for configuring PPTP in the Branch office

If you have registered the DDNS, you can also use the domain name instead of the IP address to reach the router.

Connection Name: Branch office
Dial out: Checked
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Server IP address: WANIP or DDNS
Netmask:
Peer Network IP: 10.0.1.2
Put in your username and password.

Click on apply then save config.

Nth0862, what you've tried to do seemed correct. It might be that you forgot to configure your PC's Firewall for the same ports? Btw, allowing w3l is useless, you have to allow war3.exe. You can get proper documentation on configuring your Billion router 800VGT at http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Billion/800VGT/Warcraft_III.htm

If you only want to host Warcraft III games, it might be worth it to ask on the http://forum.war3.co.za/ forum. Here are a few Warcraft III related threads that will help: .: How to Host with a Firewall :., .: How to host with a Router :. and Identifying network ports in use

The www.portforward.com website has an application (PFConfig) that can configure many routers automatically. It asks you for your Router brand, model, username & password, then you select the application that you want to port forward from a list and finally you select your PC's IP address from a list - so there's no need for worrying about the ports or getting your PC's IP address with ipconfig. Unfortunately it doesn't support any Billion routers.
Please note that it will not forward your ports unless you have purchased a copy and have a valid registration code.
