I went to the vodashop store in Fourways mall on 9 December to start the port of my number from MTN Prepaid to Vodacom Prepaid. I sat down with the technician / salesperson and filled out the forms for the port, also doing the RICA for the new sim card. I was then informed that the port will only be done during the week, which is understandable, and should take 24 to 48 hours.

However, on 15 December, my MTN number was still fully active, and when going in to the vodashop store to check on the progress, the step of the port in was showing "7. Port-in Pending", with the port in date showing the port in date as early January. I am mostly wondering what the port in date means, as from what i assume it would be the date that the number becomes active on the vodacom network.

As I recall from when I ported from mtn to vodacom, there wire very clear deadlines as to when the porting took place. It should take place within 24 hours of your request as I understand it. Perhaps ockie could look into this for you.

Hi.

Porting in as contract or prepaid?

How much did you drink this morning???
:D

Prepaid is mentioned....

Oh...sorry. :o

The port activation process for prepaid is different to contract. When they RICA the sim that they give to you they have to flag the Sim for "Port In" .From the looks of it...they did not tick the flag box. If this is not done...the port in will not happen. They will will have to redo the RICA with a new sim and be sure to tick the Port In box to flag it.
