Port - MTN and Telkom

Anybody port to Mtn via sms? I tried to port by texting portme along with the sim kit number, and as yet there has not been one single confirmation via sms.

It said that i would receive 3 sms's, but non as yet. Port request was done this morning.

Ive had previous issues before using this method, but i thought i would try it again. No luck

I also filled in a port request form at Telkom in Adderly street Cape Town, more than a week ago, and consultant took my details down, and made me sign the form. I am still not impressed, but i aint going tp query it just yet.

I hope there is a telkom rep on here, because i signed for the port, and to this day nothing has happened. Its ridiculous. My last move might be to move to Vodacom, and hope its 3rd time lucky even though they expensive with Data.
 
For what its worth, Telkom even sent me an sms to my other telkom number telling me that i still havent used the other sim, and they gave me R15 to use it. So Telkom, if you dont want people to port to your network, just say so
 
Yeah the sms to port for MTN does not always work as well. I did have the same problem as you before. Just buy another staterpack and try to sms again.

Above is just a example.If you actually do get the confirmation smses its usually a very fast and easy way to port to MTN. If all else fail just pass a MTN store and ask them to initiate a prepaid port for you. They do it fast.
 
Yeh ill just do it via the store tomorrow. Kind of just annoyed me, as i initially wanted to port to Telkom where i was physically in the store. After more than a week with no call to explain why they didnt do what i had signed for. So i figured that i might as well go back to MTN.

There is your problem. You may not port more frequently than one in six month, the last I heard.
 
Im still on Cell C, the Telkom port was never done. Hence the reason i went to Mtn which also didnt happen. Im sure i made that clear enough
 
Let me explain again. I 1st attempted to port more than a week ago to Telkom. This was never ever done. My Cell C sim is very much active, so Telkom never did what i signed up for them to do. So i got fed up and requested via sms to port to mtn, and also nothing. So neither mtn or telkom has done a port for me.
 
Is this a contract with CellC?
They are not inclined to release a number if you owe them money.

No matter which SP you chose, go instore, as there is clearly a hickup.

You may port your number to any network from any network once every 60 days from last port. So yeah its 2 months basically. Once your number is ported then the 60day counter start before you can port again.

If you are still battleing maybe just give MTN port Support a shout. 083 123 port or 083 123 7678

BTW I think there might be something wrong with their sms to port number. I did test it today and I send the sms but no reply from that number. Usually you get a instant reply saying that they received your request. Now nothing happens.....
 
Yeh, i tried to resend the request and still nothing. These networks are all useless, and its bloody annoying
 
So another mybb user was able to port to MTN using the following method.

SMS --> PORTME#simnumber to 0837678287

You should buy a new staterpack if you did try and sms with the KIT number. If you did that staterpack is now broken.
 
I am sitting with more than 50 mtn starter packs at work, so when i get back to work, ill grab one and see what happens . Strange though

Yeah I think its the system that is broken cause I have ported using the kit number before so I guess its just broken but PORTME#simnumber confirmed to be working for another mybb user in the MTN section.
 
Yeh its frusting though. One would think, that these guys would ensure that these thing work properly. Not that it was an issue, but the sms wasnt free. But there you go, so will try it again on Friday
